President Obama thinks so. He's thrown his support behind a proposal to eliminate capital gains taxes on investments made in 2010 and 2011 in qualifying small businesses. The House of Representatives has already passed the legislation; the Senate has yet to take it up.

What kind of neverland am I in...did I go backwards in time a few years or something?? Cut taxes for rich investors? I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe...

I think Obama honestly thinks he's the second coming of Reagan.

How scary is that?

There was never the slightest danger that anyone was going to call Bush "The Great Communicator". Never.

There's no better way of creating jobs than investment in small business. Obama doesn’t want to do this because it goes against his ideology, but he also wants to be reelected and knows that the mid terms and the next presidential election will be all about jobs "stupid".

Heck, I'm all for investment in small business. Problem is, everyone pays lip service to the idea, and then hands all the handouts and breaks to the big-box conglomerates. Seriously, look around your town or city, and find me the last time a city council or municipality granted a ten- or twenty-year property tax abatement to a locally-owned mom-n-pop shop. They hand 'em out daily to places like WalMart, Cabela's, Home Despot [sic] and others who funnel the money directly out of the town. And often as not, the city and state will ALSO grant a sales tax abatement to those same stores, meaning they don't have to pay the sales tax to the state comptroller; be sure to let me know if your small business gets that consideration. Oh, and while you're at it, let me know if that big-box store doesn't collect the sales tax FROM YOU. In essence, they're being subsidized by the government to offer unfair competition to the smaller stores.

So yeah, while it would be great if there actually WERE some real investments made in small businesses, or some tax breaks aimed at them, I'll believe it when I see it.

If anything, this proposed tax cut is aimed at handing yet more money to Wall Street executives and hedge fund managers, whose "income" isn't taxed at the income tax rate, but rather at the much-lower capital gains tax rates.

Once again, the top 1% have swindled you into arguing their case!

America loves a winner!

This amounts to nothing more than a head fake, to use a term which Barry knows somethigf of, from basketball.

It plays well in the head lines, and sure, it'll help, some. But Barry hates the thought of it, so very much. It's why it'll only last for 2 years, and then it's the return of tax-o- saurus rex!

Only you would complain about taxes your taxes being raised every single time they get cut. Instead of whining, why don't you just send a Thank You card?

Were you this upset about the Bush tax cuts? Remember, they were only temporary. Where was all the outrage and hand-wringing over them from you?
