Keep in mind, that Geithner ran Lehman through 3 "stress tests" prior to bankruptcy; all of which Lehman failed, and yet, nothing was done. Anton R. Valukas--the examiner who wrote the 2,200 page investigative-report which was released on Thursday-- has provided plenty of information detailing Lehman's “materially misleading” accounting and “actionable balance sheet manipulation.”

In other words, they cooked the books. Handcuffs, perp walk...

Thing is, it doesn't even matter if he's guilty of anything or not; nothing's going to happen to him. You think he JUST started gaming the system? Hell, how did you think he got APPOINTED to his job in the first place?

Why do you think he'll ever spend a single day behind bars? Hell, "they" (the nefarious "they") made Dubya's DWI(s) disappear, right? They made his lack of service and his going AWOL disappear, yes? And somehow actually managed to portray him as a WAR HERO, and almost half the fucking country was dumb enough to fall for it. TWICE.

And now his war crimes have been hidden, covered up, and dismissed as well, and he'll likely NEVER be prosecuted or brought to justice.

So what is it that makes you think li'l Timmy Geithner is going to be frog-marched into a prison cell?

If anyone in power had any interest in the crimes he's committing, they'd have already strung him up for the crimes he's already committed. Look how long it took anyone to even try to go after Bernie "Made-off" after he made off with all their money - and that was with their own people TELLING them flat-out that he was running a Ponzi scheme!

So no, I don't think Geithner will be in jail, ever. He'll retire to a nice pension, great healthcare benefits, and - ahem - "the thanks of a grateful nation".

At some point you're going to realize, PN, that your country was sold down the river a long time ago, and that all you can do at this late stage is point and laugh while it all crumbles down. Then you turn your back, shrug, say "Democracy just don't work," and move on to the next country and the next big thing.

People act concerned about $72 trillion in unfunded liabilities, where they weren't even a little bit concerned when it was "only" $60 trillion with no way out. Hell, I knew our country was over the day Dubya told us the best thing we could do for America in the aftermath of 9/11 was "go shopping". That was the day I became convinced that America was a bankrupt nation, an obsolete idea, and that if we were in a terminal nosedive, the only prudent thing to do would be to firewall the throttles and auger this baby in once and for all. After all, you can't rebuild from the ashes until you have ashes, right?
