GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Israel shelled the United Nations headquarters in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, engulfing the compound and a warehouse in fire and destroying thousands of pounds of food and humanitarian supplies intended for Palestinian refugees.

The UN should procedurally remove Israel. Afterall, there are 40-something nations that don't recognize it. Then Israel would have to go around the Arab world and win over some hearts and minds, get some recognition, and re-apply. I think that's fair and balanced.

Frankly, if I were an arab, and picked up the Old Testament and read the parts where the followers of Jehovah were called upon to kill me and my family and pets, because, after all, if you're a vengeful god, why not throw in the pets, yeah, I might take issue with that. Israel, right now, is not being a poster child for the "That's not us, that was some lunatic cult 3000 years ago" position. They oughta try to get into that position, and negotiate.

Even "better", Israel used white phosphorous in the attack. Some media has been reporting for the past few days that various aid workers in Gaza have seen phosphorous. Not that you'd ever find that the the so-called "liberal" American media! Now that a UN spokesman has said the same thing, it might be harder to ignore.
