Ok folks, at THIS point, is there any remaining doubt that the "hard right" is every bit the pyschotic little mental children that I've always claimed they were ?

Now that the mask is finally off, the bullshit facade of reason torn free, and the monster revealed in all it's putrefactant splendor...

I want you to REMEMBER it this goddamn time, and pass down that knowledge, because if you do not, if you forgive and forget, we're gonna go through this shit again, 12-15 years down the road, and every time that stupid cycle happens we never do regain all the ground we lost.

Do yourselves, and our future generations, a big favor and FINISH THE DAMN JOB for once, put the boot in and end them for once and for all, arrest them, charge them, and if convicted, jail them.

Or doom your kids to having to fight them all over again.

And all the while remember that the other end of the political spectrum wears a mask too, hiding a monster every bit as ugly.

But FIRST, finish off the one that's down, or it WILL be back, I guarantee it - we don't hammer the stake in and finish the job, it'll come back to haunt us.

Then, and only then, should we start tearing the mask off the other one.

Geeze - look around you, instead of grasping the hand reaching across the aisle to keep well meaning folk from the other end of the political spectrum from running over us, what have most of the right leaning folk done around here, and around the nation ?

Either they're throwing petulant little tantrums, full of thinly veiled threats and general nastiness, hiding under a rock somewhere, or headed for countries with no extradition treaty with the US.

That's seriously pissin me off, as it sorely limits the political balance when folks who purport to believe certain things will ONLY stand up for them in a position of overwhelming advantage, and then flee the moment things get tough.

That being said, I have managed to lock hands with some Conservative folk, but it's damned few, and the "hard right" has shown their true colors with their recent behavior nationwide, their hate, intolerance, and sheer nastiness, which makes it all the harder for Conservative folk to have a voice since the well is so badly poisoned by those actions.

And I am annoyed with it, because the "hard right" is not, and never was, Conservative but rather simply exploitive and sociopathic.

Which has left the real Conservative folk up the damn creek, and ensured that no one is going to listen to them, left them so badly fragmented and disorganised they barely have a voice at all.

The "hard right" folks ain't actually right or left, they're freakin con men of the worst order, have been since that little straussian plot was formed in Scoop Jacksons office, and have used whatever party was in power at the time to forment some really nasty shit - it's just been easier to for them to hide behind republicans since the agendas coincided in many cases.

And since the current administration is on to them, you just watch, they'll either latch on to a third party and start corrupting it, or engage in the usual political sabotage, all the while waiting to climb back on the throne and start pushing us down the road to destruction once again.

Can we as a nation afford that, with the damage they've already done ?

It's funny, because MOST of the calls for "bipartisanship" and working together seem to come from the right. "Obama HAS TO put a Republican in his Cabinet... They're going to HAVE TO work with us..."

Which brings to mind this question: If McCain had won with 365 electoral votes to Obama's 173, would he have HAD TO run a bipartisan White House? If the House and Senate had swung into control of the Republicans, would we have HAD TO work with them? Or would they simply say, "Shove it" and go about their business pushing their agenda?

So we don't HAVE TO work with the conservatives. It would be nice if we COULD, and it would be nice to have some healing, but it's not something we absolutely have to do.

Recent - as in recently handed every single possible chance to show that there was more to em than fear, hate and just pure meanness.

I stuck my hand out here, as well as other places, for weeks, reaching across the aisle, did I not ?

You see anyone take it ?

Yeah, neither did I.

It's funny a bit, although fully intended in good faith, the dynamic has panned out to just about EXACTLY what happened in the lead up to the Mal/Patience shootout, hasn't it ?

Give em every single possible chance to do the right thing, even at no cost or effort to themselves, and they STILL don't take it.

So ya shoot em.

My only beef with it is that Mal left Patience alive at the end of that, cause I damned sure wouldn't have - then again, reavers like em still screamin an kickin, so maybe justice was served (with a side of horse, no doubt) after all.
