I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

OOPS ! I thought I was being funny. Nevermind!

I was hoping to subtly, using humor, hint that it would be nice if you gentlemen could take the argument outside (start a flame war thread, whatever) and let everyone else continue with their discussion, which I was actually enjoying.

edited to add - BTW I know my sense of humor needs work. I try, really really try to get it right. But just about everyone else here does better with humor and wit than I. So my lumbering humor will, alas, lumber on in its own peculiar way.

NO No!! Not you Rue.
I seem to be having trouble replying to the intended recipient. I click reply in the box I'm intending to reply to, then it winds up

several postings above. Or last in the lineup even though it was not intended to be commenting on the original post.
No, you're doing just fine with the humor thing. Sorry.

Okay, since this is kind of tangentially related. Here's a paragraph that I found amusing (from a longer post titled, "Penis evolution"):
Quote:

excerpted from http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2006/06/penis_evolution.php
As is typical, though, while the promise of salaciousness drew me in, it was the science and the evolutionary story that kept me interested. Amniote penises have had a complex history. They have evolved independently multiple times, and perhaps most troubling to the male ego, they have been secondarily lost at least a few times. And every time they have evolved, they converge on a remarkably similar morphological solution.

What's a good scientific debate without a bit of poop flinging?! It happens at all of the best conferences, it's just as the letters accrue after your name you find more loquatious ways of calling your learned colleagues poopy head.
Was there a class on doing it with flair, elan, ... wit? I seemed to have missed it.

DRAT!

Yeah. That was the line that cracked me up, too.

* snort *

I usually don't include the signature with the quote, but it somehow seemed appropriate.

Thanks I'll try that, I'll treat his posts in much the same way I currently treat PirateNews's (scroll scroll scroll).

Anyway continue to enjoy the discussion.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!
No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.
