Thanks for the update, BRENDA. I'm so happy to read that the weather changed for the better. Hoping for the best for those returning to their communities.

Bc the people in the streets are looking for PUBLICITY. They want to make a statement. They want it on TikTok or X or Telegram.

See anybody claim credit for arson? Make a statement? The only ppl that I can imagine starting a fire and keeping it secret are ... wait for it... pyromaniacs.

Besides, you wouldn't get these college educated white kids two steps away from cellphone coverage and lattes.

That last part made me giggle. True enough, true enough...

But my whole point on that one isn't to take any credit, or to make a statement that their face is on. Even most of the goons taking to the streets don't want their actual names out there and they're all still masked up with sunglasses when they're out there burning the streets down.

But these are the same people who will tell you every day that the end of the world is 5 years from now if we don't do something about climate change. They are the same people who have been funded by the likes of George Soros and our very own USAid and various NGOs. The ones who come into the big cities from other states to block down the streets and highways so working people can't get to work.

An unemployed white college "educated" kid with no job prospects isn't likely to be caught dead in the middle of a forest that far away from their next Starbucks Latte, but a PAID unemployed college "educated" kid who is offered enough money to pay off their college loan if they start that fire and get away with it?

Maybe.

And maybe paying off a college loan sounds way too expensive for a simple forest fire being set, but not really when you think about it. Here I am keeping my yearly expenses down to around $7k-$8k per year, and we're talking about raising the military budget $200 BILLION per year in the Big Beautiful Bill. We don't even think twice about throwing a billion to this NGO or $10 billion that NGO. What's a few Hundred Thousand to somebody like Soros or what's left of the USAid types and the money they managed to park offshore before Trump was inaugurated?

They're buying a LOT with that money. Not just the forest fire, but a forest fire created by somebody who has a heavily vested interest in keeping that secret for the rest of their lives as well. On one end, they've just gotten that loan that might have taken the rest of their life to pay off out of the way, they're young with most of their lives still ahead of them, and if that secret were to ever come out for any reason they'd be throwing that all away and ruining the rest of their lives. That money also buys the secrecy that they need and it's all built-in.

There have been too many fires, Sigs. Plain and simple. This isn't a climate thing. These are being set intentionally. If we didn't have our yearly reminder that the end of the world is 5 years away if we don't all switch to coal burning cars, then people are going to start asking why they need to pay all this extra money for sub-par "new" tech that hardly works compared to what we've been using our entire lives.

And just like Hollywood does, they need to keep ramping that up and making it worse every year than it was the year before, or they won't even make headlines anymore.

You already see that happening right now, in a sense.

From what Brenda has been reporting here, it sounds like this was a terrible year for Canadian forest fires. But if I didn't come here and it weren't for my old man mentioning the smoke in the weather reports, I think there's a very good chance that these would have come and gone and I wouldn't have even known there was a single fire in Canada this season, let alone over 100 of them.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

There are a lot of causes in CA, IDK about Canada.

Human-caused fires: downed powerlines in high wind conditions, that's really pretty common. Sparks thrown from chains dragging on the road and angle grinders. Homeless people and their campfires. Cigarette butts. Arson.

Nature-caused, mostly lightning.

In order to determine what REALLY caused any particular fire, you'd have to look at the weather that day. Was there lightning? Was it windy? Where were the fire origins? Near high tension lines? Near a roadway? Was there construction? Campgrounds?

But N American forests are DEFINITELY under stress due to prolonged drought, which opens thrm up to bark beetle infestations, so there are in many places a lot of stsnding dead trees. In addition, they suffer from very bad forest management. Decades and decades trying to stop ALL forest fires, lurching to "let it burn", lurching to "reduce the fuel load" i.e. clear-cutting.

Sure, you might pay several somebodies to set fires, but they wouldn't turn into conflagrations without underlying conditions, including drought.

I get it. I know there are natural causes that start these things. I know that incompetence and terrible infrastructure problems are also to blame in cases. And I get that accidents happen.

I'm not saying that every fire out there is intentional. Of course I'm not saying that.

But I'm willing to wager a good deal of them are. And I'd bet the everything I own that the number is higher than zero.

We already know that at least 3 people have been arrested in Canada so far for arson.

So am I. But a good number of structures have been lost, just got lucky this year that no one has lost their life.

We can get a lot of dry lightening up here especially on the Prairies. Then you factor in high winds and all it takes is just one strike.

Course there are camp fires, cigarettes and the odd power lines going down too, as you said SIG.

My family in Northern Alberta got lucky and didn't have to evacuate. Cousin said that the fire just skirted around them. Thank goodness.

It was a relief for them. Though they did get a lot of ash and smoke. That isn't good but not being sent to Edmonton or farther south to Calgary or Red Deer is even better.
