It's not personal. It's just war.

Having been to Japan, and not Paris, but having basically everyone I know having been to Paris and several of them living there, I understand. Paris' reputation as the world's rudest city is extreme enough that even other French people can't stand to go there. The Japanese are so incredibly polite that you need spies to know if you've offended them in any way.

Japanese people should probably be broken in slowly. They might want to try somewhere in the UK first, or the US. Seattle would be an excellent start. Then they can work their way down to Manhattan, probably Chicago provides a decent middle ground. Then they will be ready for London, after that, from what I here, they still might want to try Berlin first.

I wonder what happens to la Parisienne en Tokyo.

Yup, Parisians are exceptionally rude, even to other French people. They're known for it, and seem to view it as a source of pride.

Many claim that residents of New York City are no different.

NYC is special, but I've known many people who have lived both places. A lot of people from the City come up here, and it takes them a while to adjust from "What'ya want?" to "Can I help you with anything?" I think the difference is that New Yorkers don't mean to be rude, they're just always in a rush. It's a class different. They don't see themselves as above anyone else, as the City is largely lower class folk and immigrants anyway.

Everything I hear about Paris leads me to think that the problem with the Parisienne is more that they think they are above everyone else than that they are overstressed or short on time.

The most friendly place I've been in the US is Seattle, though most of Iowa is quite friendly. Here is okay, but the South is definitely friendlier.

That said, I find the City intolerable and can't take it for more than a day or two at a time.

America loves a winner!

A bag lady in Paris once yelled at me because I wouldn't give her any money. Least, I guess that's what was causing all the fuss. I think she was drunk, and she was yelling in French, so it was both sad and funny.

Better now than when Muslims are running all of their governments.

As far as I know, they only run several large cities and the BBC right now.
