Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I remember when the Exxon Valdez was a big deal. In today's world I wonder if it would even get a mention.

Exxon Valdez 10.8 million US gallons.

The Persian Gulf War Oil Spill (1991) Some sources estimate that between 380 million and 520 million gallons were poured into the gulf.

BP’s Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (2010) ... some 134 million gallons of oil were released ... Some sources suggest that the amount of oil released was much higher, perhaps as much as 206 million gallons.

The Ixtoc 1 Oil Spill (1979) ... accident released up to 140 million gallons of crude oil into the Bay of Campeche between June 1979 and March 1980.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

We sure are busy shitting up the planet, aren't we?

That's why I'd just laugh when people were telling me my cigarettes were causing climate change.
