Quote:In the days that followed, Trump effusively praised the FBI director. "I respect the fact that Director Comey was able to come back after what he did. I respect that very much,' Trump said the next day.

What do Comey, Yates, and Bharara have in common? They all were investigating Trump when they got fired, and there’s a Russia thread in each of their cases. www.axios.com/who-trump-has-fired-2400578336.html

Quote: He's a showboat, he's a grandstander....Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey....And in fact when I decided to just do it I said to myself, I said, "You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won."

Quote:Originally posted by second: Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump's deputy press secretary said, “The integrity of our law enforcement agencies and their leadership is of the utmost importance to President Trump. He would never even suggest the expectation of personal loyalty, only loyalty to our country and its great people.” Mr. Comey described details of his refusal to pledge his loyalty to Mr. Trump to several people close to him on the condition that they not discuss it publicly while he was F.B.I. director. But now that Mr. Comey has been fired, they felt free to discuss it. Throughout his career, Mr. Trump has made loyalty from the people who worked for him a key priority, often discharging employees he considered insufficiently reliable. Mr. Trump may not have understood that by tradition, F.B.I. directors are not supposed to be political loyalists, which is why Congress in the 1970s passed a law giving them 10-year terms to make them independent of the president. Only seven days after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as president, James B. Comey has told associates, the F.B.I. director was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with the new commander in chief. The conversation that night in January, Mr. Comey now believes, was a harbinger of his downfall this week as head of the F.B.I., according to two people who have heard his account of the dinner. As they ate, the president and Mr. Comey made small talk about the election and the crowd sizes at Mr. Trump’s rallies. The president then turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him. Mr. Comey declined to make that pledge. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/in-a-private-dinner-trump-demanded-loyalty-comey-demurred/ar-BBB2h7o?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartanntp Trump, in his interview with NBC's Lester Holt, describing how he decided to fire Comey:Quote: He's a showboat, he's a grandstander....Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey....And in fact when I decided to just do it I said to myself, I said, "You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won."I don't know about you, but if I were Trump I'd not have said that on TV. Trump told everyone on Earth that the Russia investigation was at the top of his mind when he decided to fire Comey. He was angry that Comey had kept the Russia investigation alive even though it obviously just a bogus Democratic Party smear, so out Comey went.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.
Quote:The rules instructing filers how to complete the OGE 278e form are published by the independent Office of Government Ethics (OGE) in a document titled 'The Public Financial Disclosure Form (July 2016).' The form does not require that an employee spouse's salary be disclosed; only the employer name and type of income required. Nor does the form require or contain a line for campaign contributions, which are not considered income. Rules governing campaign donations are overseen by the Federal Election Commission. Each form submitted by an FBI employee to the OGE is certified by FBI's chief ethics officer, who heads the Office of Integrity and Compliance. Mr. McCabe consulted with this office upon his wife's decision to run for political office.

Quote:Originally posted by JEWELSTAITEFAN: Fairly simple. You cannot use facts when explaining Democraps. If facts were part of their world, then you could use yesterday's facts just as validly as today's facts. Which is what you are attempting to do. Facts do not support their politically skewed view of surreality, so you must forget yesterday's facts, including what Democraps said then.

Sure the law is weak and toothless, but that's not on McCabe.
