The replica is cast from high quality resin and has been professionally painted to capture the finish of the screen-used piece.

The base colour was airbrushed using Humbrol Metalcote Gunmetal, a paint that appears to only be available in the UK. The great thing about this paint is that it can be polished to give a convincing 'real steel' effect. The gold highlights were added using rub n' buff for a similar effect.

You can really see the effect in the photos below. The first, under bright light, shows the polished effect in its full glory. The second, under normal light shows a duller more weathered effect.

The auction also includes an elm-wood base, painted to contrast the realistic wood-look grips on the pistol.

The resin plaque features the show's logo in gold on black, along with the good ship Serenity.

This beautiful reproduction of the pistol carried by Malcolm Reynolds in Joss Whedon's epic space adventure Firefly, is very hard to find on Ebay, and is available here for the first time with a custom made wooden base and presentation plaque.
