Hey, I was reading somewhere someone said we should be doing guerilla marketing for Serenity, try to get the word out to as many people as possible. So I decided to make my own Serenity screensaver with a count down to the movie release.

I used the excellent Lightwave mesh by Treybor check it out here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=12&t=6963

The screensaver would be heaps better if I could get the mesh into Maya, as I'm not a Lightwave user. But I think I'll keep working on that later, the biggest problem is the shaders breaking in the converstion I think.

I'm going to release the screensaver soon, I've just got to make it read from a text file that users can modify to display the correct release date for their country.

If people want to post the release date for their country that'd be handy, particularly if I need to make seperate versions for different countries.

No replies, damn! I released the screensaver in the Blue Sun Room today, it's been available on the Australian official Serenity forum for a while. The countdown is to the Australian release date, a day before most everywhere else. http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=4731

I'm taking requests for my next Serenity screensaver, I don't want to say anything for definate but... sessions...

I would like to see a screensaver with an "interactive" cgi Firefly (Serenity) that would fly, land, take off, full burn, visit planets, etc...

Lots of work, I know, but not impossible...

I like the idea, a bit complex for a screensaver, but I did want to do some of those things, not interactive but fullburn, change directions, dodge spacejunk, glide slowly past reavers, and have a variety of planets and moons sail past. I want a Serenity game!

I haven't had the chance to look at it yet... I am thinking, for games, an FPS would be nice... Fly Serenity around, collect payloads, shoot bad guys, get paid, avoid reavers, avoid alliance... It could be lots of fun...
