What about this movie opening up this week?

The Tuxedo - Jackie with JLH? I thought Chris Tucker was an odd pairing, but JLH?

What do you think?

WOW! A "bump" after almost 3 years! Gotta be some kinda record!

I enjoyed "The Tuxedo" infinitely more than "The Medallion", I can tell you!

Tuxedo was well produced enjoyable nonsense. I own it, and Medallion as well. I liked Medallion for what it was, and am happy to see Jackie in almost anything, but I confess, I didn't like New Police Story- the movie was too severe for it's preposterous story. Too many innocents died just to be 'serious'.

Jackie Chan should not be allowed to make movies unless he's gonna seriously kung-fu some dudes. Don't get me wrong, I love Jackie (or Jacky or Yackie as he gets credited on REALLY old stuff), but he's gotta get back to Hong Kong and do some old "Snake fist Fighter" style stuff. The Drunken Master Movies are funnier and have better fight scenes than anything he's done in Hollywood. And you know what? I can appreciate a good stuntman without knowing who he is. I don't watch chan to see him jump off a cliff or through a fire. Sly Stallone's stand in can do that crap. I wanna see him kick some dude's face right off his head so fast I gotta watch it on frame by frame on DVD. Even JLH's tits can't save a Chan action comedy now, and until I saw that, I thought they were capable of ANYTHING. One man's opinion. So There.

I agree with the Mrs. (except, just shocked to find out you're a man. I think. )

Except-I LOVE watching the gag reel of all his messed up stunts at the end. (and the part about JLH. Ew.)
And I don't think I saw The Tuxedo. Though I did see The Medallion. His earlier stuff in Hong Kong was much better. And funnier.

But I don't care what he does. It's Jackie Chan and I have a soft spot for him.

Yep, I'm Our Mr. Reynolds here. Guy through and through, that explains the JLH comment don't it? And yeah the unnamed stuntpeople don't give us those cool gag reels. How many times do you get to see someone hit in the back with a helicopter? But I can't sit through another chan flick just to watch the credits. It's too depressing. I just sit and think "You were my hero man..."

If he never, ever does another movie, he's still MY hero!
Legend of the Drunken Master, Operation Condor, Who Am I, Rush Hour 2, Supercop, Shanghai Noon; he doesn't have anything else to prove!

I love Jackie Chan movies!

I think my most favourite is Shanghai Noon, the pairing with Owen Wilson is fantastic. Just off the top of my head one scene was when the Jackie was trying to talk to the indians and you get the subtitled indian talk. Or when Owen Wilson was buried up to his neck and was dreaming all those lusty ladies pampering him only to find "Holy Crap! The vultures are eating his head!"

The Jackie action is awesome as always too (horseshoe on a rope was good).

Chrisisall- you and I are arriving at the same point by different means. If he stopped making movies I consider to be crap, I could keep my regard for him high. I don't WANNA look at trailers for a new Chan flick and say "Oh Jackie what the made you think this was a good idea?" You can put his animated show right in there too. It looks and sounds like it was made by the people who made Captain Planet. I wanted to love it, the same way I wanted to love The Tuxedo, etc. but I just can't do it anymore. You're right. He has nothing to prove. So stop taking every half-ass script that falls in your lap, Jackie! Pick and choose with care the projects you associate with, you don't need the money or exposure. A gourmet shouldn't be seen wolfing down McNuggets. So I just collect the old stuff and pretend he DID stop making movies.

Well late into the fray again but just wanted to chip in with my appreciation of Jackie.

I'm a bigger fan of his older stuff: Drunken Master, Project A, The Cantonese Godfather, Wheels on Meals, Operation Condor, Police Story all his Hong Kong films basically - but honourable mentions to Rumble in the Bronx, Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights all very enjoyable.

Now if the odd poor one makes it through Tuxedo then well.... so be it. All actors make the odd bad film... Except maybe Humphrey Bogart that guy was awesome!!!!

Anyway I'm willing to have Jackie have fun with the business he loves in the hope that one day one of his films may strike gold and highlight his real ability once again. The odds are stacked against it for sure, because he doesn't have the total control he used to when working in HongKong but somewhere out there is a worthwile project waiting for him to kung fu it into shape.

As with all things great you just have to give it a little time and patience.

*Raises Glass to Jackie Chan*

Cheers Jackie for all the years and years of entertainment, without it, my brother and I would surely have been worse of and we might never have realised our martial arts potential, found in the confines of our living room, while trying to whoop each other senseless with the household furniture after watching one of your flicks!
