Surely proves that the government is a body of people usually notable ungoverned.

Btw, does anyone else think the rhyme goes well with the Firefly theme?

Quote:

TAXES

The next time you hear a politician use the

word "billion" in a casual manner, think about

whether you want the "politicians" spending

YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,

but one advertising agency did a good job of

putting that figure into some perspective in

one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and
20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a
look at New Orleans . It's amazing what you can learn with some simple
division.

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu, is presently asking the Congress
for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, what
does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans

(every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.

(I checked this longhand, and it is true)

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family
gets $2,066,012.

Washington , D.C .. HELLO!!! ... Are all your calculators broken??

This is too true to be very funny!

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries,
Tax his! tears.
Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash

Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.

If he hollers,
Tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.

Tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"

And when he's gone,
We won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance TAX!!

That's my favorite quote from the entire show, as you can see from my sig. Book's the man. Love the poem. Fit's perfect with the Firefly theme. I wish I could play it on guitar, but they have all sorts of other crazy instruments on that song and it just doesn't sound the same with one accoustic guitar.

OK Well I totally understand that gov't wastes money yeah it sucks... but New Orleans wouldn't be the perfect example in my mind. The thing is... its more than just actual homes. INFRASTRUCTURE, is what needs to be rebuilt, and that isnt cheap, and you also need to bring back businesses to new orleans, not cheap either. Roads, telephones, hospitals, firetrucks and police stations and personal, just dont build themselves, money is needed. Although 250 billion is bloody alot... although had FEMA been under proper management, and the gov't down there in New Orleans wasnt so damn corrupt, well it wouldnt have been this big of a catastrophe.

BUT if you want to talk about waste of money, New Orleans is not the place to look at. Just LOOK at how much is wasted in that stupid war in Iraq. How much spending is going on there???? How about the military budget? Want to talk about waste of money? Go look there. and while you are at it, check out other wastes of money called 'pig' projects in the gov't gets involved. All sorts of things gov't pays for but it gets nowhere, b/c some of that money goes into gov't croney's pockets.

Don't get me wrong man... I'm thnking that probably half of the people who have read my posts probably think I'm an Anarchist, which couldn't be further from the truth. My response to anybody who has ever said that to me is "Hey man... I like having my garbage taken away every week as much as the next guy." I've seen Gangs of New York and at least seen a dramatized and Hollywood version of how bad life without some form of government could be (I'm sure in reality it was much worse).... although I think that I personally would thrive in a world like that, I realize that every aspect of life would be much harder than we have it now. Disease, murder, rape... all prime examples of hardships which would just proliferate like crazy in a governmentless world. I can guaranty you that you wouldn't find a girl in the world who would dress up like a ho like they do on MTV... Women would probably revert to wearing Burkas. (And nobody wants that... well, not anybody in America anyhow)

No... I'm a dreamer. I preach about the way the world should be. Small, decentralized government. Public school that isn't run by the government with curriculums which are not handed down by the powers that be to make all school children grow up to think like-mindedly (see No Child Left Behind). Communities and individuals within used to care about each other and work together and be a part of each other's life out of necessity. Do you think you would give a flipping f about Hurricane Katrina victims if you were really engaged in your own communities welfare and prosparity and the Government didn't handle (or mishandle) all of the affairs. There would be no entity there to take your hard earned tax dollars to build up a place that most of the people paying for will never see. People wouldn't be hassled about gun ownership and if the enemy did come to our shore we would be equipped to drive them back out. Today government handels most of our affairs for us and it's not uncommon for us to just up and move, or completely ignore our neighbors and current affairs of our communities entirely... giving us more time to focus our attentions on Desperate Housewives or reality TV or CNN/FOX News.

I'm not going to blame George Bush for any of this. He's just a player of the game and more than likely, just a high-profile pawn. The current administration isn't doing anything but trying to finish what the Nixon administration tried to accomplish... although they've been alarmingly more successful. They constantly beat us over the head with horrible topics on TV and in the paper everyday about war and terror and killing and rape and natural disaster as to scare the people into willingly giving away their God given rights in exchange for security. I'm not even going to quote Franklin here as I've done it so much that it's become trite. If you are a true Patriot, you already know which quote I'm talking here about anyhow.

PLEASE don't label me a Liberal after this post. I hate Democrats. I hate Republicans. I think the reason so many people hate politics is because of the two parties which have completely invaded them and made them their own. Demoncrats and Repuglicans are truly only two sides to one party and the only reason for this deception is to give us the illusion of choice and the illusion of change. Both roads end at the same horizon. It's time to form a new party.... one truly for the people and by the people. One which will take the power out of the hands of Big Brother and give it back to the community.

But not enough people agree with this... at least not now. Those who do.... well their lives are to busy and too easy to promt them to really make any change. Maybe when we're all starving one day things will change. That's the only way that revolution has ever happened before. The problem is, Big Bro learned from previous mistakes. If you're going to control all of the people, you need to give them just enough length on the leash that they don't try to snap it and break free.

Oh, I agree, New Orleans wasn't the best example... but I didn't write it. It was an e-mail sent to me.

I was mostly referring to the "billions" reference - 'cause when you think about it, it's so shocking how quickly our government decides to spend our money.

I definitely agree with what's said here...and would like to add that it is obvious Bush is a pawn as he can't even manage to eat snack foods safely let alone govern...and in his dad George Sr's first book he described George Jr. as "mediocre". It's bad if even your parents haven't much respect for you.

Well if anybody ever wants to try to make a change, I'll be around to throw around ideas. I don't think I would be good as the man running for office, as things such as my lack of college education alone would most likely be enough negative campaign fodder for any opponent to win at any level of politics worth winning, however, I believe I'd be an excellent advisor for any man, or woman, who was right for the job. I can even make the coffee!

They tell you in school that anybody can be president. Everything that I've learned since would serve to disprove that theory. Maybe it's time that somebody actively tried.....

But, I'm dreaming again.
