I've been using the Opera 9 beta for a while now and was mightily impressed. I just today downloaded the "proper" none beta release and am complete blown away. Its so fast! I mean really really fast!You just wont believe how fast it is. You see that dot disappearing in the distance? Thats opera 9!

They have finally figured out how to manage there widgets properly and thanks to the lengthy beta period they now have many good ones. The RSS support is the best in any current browser and the built in mail client is quite good if you want to use it (I still prefer thunderbird). It supports bittorrent (haven't used it myself but it is reported to be buggy). It is also apparently quite secure, but its early days for this version yet so lets leave that aside.

The great intangible thing about Opera is how utterly slick and professional it feels. It really is a joy to use. Honestly if it only had better support for ajax heavy websites I think it might be replacing firefox as my default web browser.

Anyone else tyred it?

I was getting pretty fed up with version 8 because it was at times really slow and fairly unstable. So far I haven't had those problems with version 9, although a problem I did have was when I said 'yes' in the dialog box asking me if I want to make Opera my default browser, because then Opera wouldn't open. So I said 'no' and changed it to be the default manually. Which is sort of strange in itself because I already had it as default before and my other settings were transferred fine, just not this one...

Anyway, Opera is a very good browser and this version so far seems great, but not quite perfect yet.

Other people can occasionally be useful, especially as minions. I want lots of minions.
