Tell me about BE Charitable and the Flanvention Auction?

I got an email from someone who said "I am the administrator of the charitable branch of Booster Entertainment LLC., BE Charitable. I am seeking donations for our charity auction, which is being held during our next convention, The Big Damned Flanvention. The funds raised through the auction at the Flanvention will be donated to the Sandra "Itty" Fisher Memorial Scholarship Fund and Equality Now."

What can you guys tell me about this group? Are they worthy of our support? Are they a worthy part of the browncoat crew?

They were asking me to donate some of my Firefly/Serenity jewelry items. I like supporting good causes and would gladly do so, but I would want to know the money wasn't going to support some bizarre or radical agenda.
