Agreed, but it's also a public sign of support for the show. An optimist might interpret it as a subtle jibe at the network or a call to arms to the fans. Probably doesn't matter at this point though...

I think that SkyOne, like any responsible broadcaster, is simply playing it safe (regarding Angel's demise) until told otherwise. Besides, there's no date on that statement, so it might only be the "official" word, not the latest. See this article:
