“Look Mum, it’s got all these different programs I can attend and choose so that I can study exactly what I want to”, River spoke.

Her mother and father were in the sunroom, her mother writing a letter and her father reading the day’s papers.

“This college has the best opportunities for me by far out of all the colleges we have looked at”, River continued.

Her mother looked up from her letter, put down her pen and sighed. “River, we want what is best for you. To go to this school means you will be leaving home and leaving all of this behind, do you realise this?”

River listened. “I know Mum, and I know that Simon did the same thing as me only a few years ago. Please let me go Mum”

“River, we have made our decision”, her father spoke for the first time. “And you will have to do as we wish.”

River waited, holding her breath.

“Your mother and I feel that the college you are referring to does indeed suit for best interests and we will allow you to attend.”

“Oh, YES!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!” River ran over to her father and hugged him and then embraced her mother.

“Thank you Mum. This means so much to me”, River whispered in her mothers’ ear. “Thank you, I love you. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye”.

She let go. Smiling she turned and ran out of the sunroom, yelling for Simon.
