She lay there. Still. He had done what he could. Nothing left to do but wait. Her breathing had subsided into slow soft rushes of air. She was beautiful even asleep. Even on the infirmary bed. Her cheeks still rosy pink. Her hair fluffed out around her heart shaped face.

It was all he could do but not touch her. Stroke her cheek, hold her hand. He had stopped himself so many times before. She shifted slightly. Her eyelids fluttered. And then nothing. Just sleep.

He reached out. Traced her cheekbone to her lips.

‘Simon”, she murmured.

”Shhh”, he replied.
