Love your new technique! You've captured Mal's expression perfectly! Keep drawing!

I'm blown away by the perfection of Mal's eyes in this piece...His left lid dipping, speaks volumes of his compassion. You are a god:)

I love the sepia too, it looks like old, fading parchment - something from the old west...
I love it.
You are amazing.

if you're fulfilling requests...more Jayne? [wink] sans clothes?

It’s a shame that whole “No touching guns” thing went out the window in the movie.

So many things I want to say... as a fellow artist I want to shake your hand, then bow and kiss your feet at your amazing ability at capturing our wonderful hero's (you do Mal so well, I'll have to try to do him to... um, did that come out right? *giggle*) I just wondered if you've ever drawn at the art site 2draw, and if so what your name is there? I can imagine the incredible stuff you've done (or can do) If Dark Horse had found someone who could draw the character's, (or at least someone whose SEEN the show) it would have been so much more magical, I still have a problem with the Inara and Simon covers. Lastly, have you though of collabing with someone doing fanfic and making your own little comic here? Just for the fans of course, not to sell. As Inara said once, because that.... would be bad. I so look forward to seeing more of your art and backtracking to the ones I missed, my only beef would be I wish we could zoom out to see the whole picture, but that would be site issues. Wonderful piece Phillip, wonderful. Fireflyfanforever.

CANTONHEROINE

I like this technique much more than the basic black & white inked ones. It's softer, and seems to give a more personal touch to the characters. I think the sepia works better with the 'western' theme of the show, too, gives it an 'older' feel.

Your pictures also have more of an immediate feel to them than mine. Because I am painstakingly devoted to accuracy (I use many, many layers of different pencil shades and sometimes even use a magnifying glass to pick out details) my pictures take forever to do, and a lot of that immediacy is taken away.

Do you use screen shots as a reference, by the way?

Golly photoshop is nifty.

If he actually drew that, I'll eat my hat.

Notice his works all come from actual frames in the series.

I've been enjoying all your recent work with the sepia tones, but this one is my favorite. You have Mal's expression just right!

Amazing how the Cap'n still looks all...yum...even when he's nothin' more than a shiny drawing.
