Rivers continued run-in with the mysterious shadow. Little short this time...

The bridge was quiet. Everyone else was resting. River was piloting through an old Reaver/Armed Transport battleground. It wasn’t that tricky to maneuver through, but it still required some attention. She was having some sick fun of trying to figure out what kinds of ships were floating around in the black and what happened. By now she figured out that the transports had actually attacked a fleet of Reaver ships. They decimated the small ones, but then the larger of the canibal’s ships opened up. The transports looked to have only taken out about five of the laviathin sizers before they were comnpletely destroyed. It was amazing how long the battlefeild was. Suddenly her hair rose up on her neck. A shadow was behind her. She looked, asuming it was the boy back to taunt her again. She couldn’t hear his thoughts, so she confirmed this. He was smoking- Disgusting. Suddenly, she felt herself constrict. Every nerve ending in the primary layers of her skin was screaming. She started to feel light headed, then fell over, unconsiouse. River awoke who-knows how much later. She was looking into the eyes of the mysteriouse boy. “Are you ok?” he asked, seeming concerned. She looked at him astonishingly. “Why did you do that?” River asked him, trying to remain cool. She was however, quite mad for being knocked out and revived by a simple boy, who she now suspected was possibly even younger than her. He looked puzzled for a minute. “Why must you blame everything on me?” he asked. “Probably because it’s your fault?” River countered, now reaching the fringes of being angry. He opened his mouth to complain, but then Mal’s voice came over the intercom. “Er, River. Even though I know you have a facination of big shiny things and such, could we not run into that big hulk of a derelict infront of us?” She looked out the window and saw a massive Reaver ship that they were barring down on. Or, it was motionlessly barring down on them. Whichever you wish to think. River and the boy both jumpe to the controls. River went to pull to the right, but the boy stopped her. “Not that way!” he commanded her. “That thing is drifting down to the right. Pull up to the left, hurry!” She realized that he was right, and also knew there was no way in hell that anyway would help. “Would everyone please buckle in,” She said into the mic with a perfectly normal voice. She was very scared though. She knew that the ship had a fighter bay that had a very wide, expansive port. If she could manage to get turned around inside of that, they would be home free. She easily spotted it and started to pull off some fancy flying. She pushed down on the exceleration as much as she could and turned the side motors up. This caused them to plummit very rapidly. Then she pulled up and barely managed to slow down the decent in time. They were still going too fast forward to stop. Instead, almost gave the ship a kiss and glided skillfully into the bay. Then, with one engine faceing front, and the other back, managed to bring the ship to a complete 180° turn. Then, both facing back, she pounded the acceleration down. It was barely enough. As the ship started to pull out of the fighter bay, River realized something... well, er. I am so sorry, two things. 1) the boy was gone, and 2) she hadn’t put the ship at such a fast speed in the first place. Serenity was going at a good five times faster than she had it going before. It was a wonder they hadn’t crashed into anything before she woke up. As it was, they were going to have just the right amount of gas to get to Stomak.
