Once again we pick up where we left off...

KAYLEE’S BUNK Kneeling back Simon pulls Kaylee’s coveralls off her feet. He gazes at her appreciatively and with love before sliding back up her body, hooking a finger under the front hook of her bra and undoing it in a simple motion. He lowers his head to her breasts, (Kaylee is all gasps and moans) taking his time, working his way as slowly and carefully down her as she did down him. Her hands are on his back, then his shoulders, then in his hair. He pauses and looking up into her un-focused eyes before he eases her lacy pink panties down over her hips. He sits back again, and we see him pull the bit of lace off her foot. He begins kissing the inside of her ankle, then rests her foot on his shoulder, nuzzling it as Kaylee runs her toes along his ear. Simon kisses and caresses his way up the inside of her thigh.

WASH AND ZOE’S BUNK

They are cuddled in bed and talking softly.

ZOE: I never thought the doc would make the first move. Figured she'd have to get him drunk. How much wine did you say he had?

WASH: He had less than a glass. Before Kaylee walked in it truly looked like he was planning to cuddle up to Jenny, which was more than a little disturbing. You think she'll be gentle with the boy?

ZOE: Jenny?

WASH: Eeeww, no. Kaylee.

When they hear (through the very much NOT soundproof bulkhead)

KAYLEE: (Loud and verging on incoherent) Oh God, Simon, Now, NOW (followed by some extended sounds of extreme delight)

WASH: (Over the sounds, eyebrows raised) Okay, maybe not so gentle.

MAL’S BUNK

He is lying on his bead reading and the continuing sounds are disturbing him in many ways. He looks somewhat surprised, mildly irritated, and a touch mournful.

KAYLEE’S BUNK

Simon and Kaylee are both gasping and giggling. Sheets cover all the naughty bits. He kisses her and pushes himself up his side, one hand under his head, the other caressing Kaylee under the covers. She's a little way off, smiling.

SIMON: (Looking extremely content) Penny for your thoughts.

KAYLEE: (Blissfully, gazing into his eyes) I think I’m the luckiest woman in the ‘verse. (Coyly) And I'm thinkin' you’re not a virgin.

SIMON: Well not anymore.

Giggling, Kaylee reaches behind her, grabs a small throw pillow and smacks him gently with it.

KAYLEE: That's not what I meant, silly.

Simon takes the pillow from her and hugs it. The action takes him from passionate lover to sweet and boyish in an instant. The effect is not lost on her.

SIMON: Does it bother you that I'm not...wasn't.

KAYLEE: (Big eyes) Oh nooo. (Pause) Does it bother you that I been with other guys?

SIMON: (Looks at her, choosing his words carefully) From the impressions I gathered from our late night conversations, I was expecting you to have some experience. While I would have been honored to be your first, I must say it's a hell of a lot more fun to be with a woman who knows what she's doing. Simon tosses the pillow toward the foot of the bed and gets snuggly.

KAYLEE: But I didn't do nothin'. You did everything for me... I mean...

SIMON: Perhaps you have forgotten our little interlude by the ladder? That was... well words can't quite describe how good that felt. As far as you "not doing anything" here in bed, I would also have to disagree. Besides, we have plenty of time ahead of us, and I'm sure you have a few things to teach me.

KAYLEE: (Innocent smile) Simon. I ain't been with that many guys really... you know, all the way (wince from Simon) before you. Not many that mattered anyway, and one of those was for a long time. But it ain't never been like this for me. I mean no one has ever, you know, totally done it for me the first time, and sometimes not even after that, without, um, help. But its more ‘un that. It feels different, special. I love you. I have for so long it kinda makes me a little dizzy.

SIMON: Well, I've only really been with three other girls. All of them mattered very much, but it’s never been like this for me either. I've guess I’ve really never been in love before. (Mischevious grin) And, by the way, "help" is always welcome.

KAYLEE: (Sticking her tongue out at him, then looking at the ceiling) I haven't really either. I thought I was in love the first time. We were kids. Grew up together. I was only 16.... (She stops and looks at him, trying to gauge his reaction.)

SIMON: Kaylee, I don't expect you to kiss and tell, but if you want to talk I want to listen.

KAYLEE: I want you to know me. I don't want secrets between us. I just don't want you to think nothin’ bad about me and I don’t wanna scare you away. I know you feel different about sex.

SIMON: Yeah, I do take sex pretty seriously, and I’ll admit I used to find your more relaxed attitude a little disturbing. But I’m learning the rules aren’t the same everywhere. I love you too much and know you too well now to let it bother me. God knows my “high moral standard” hasn’t always prevented me from misbehaving. Just tell me what you think I need to know.

KAYLEE: (Starting slowly and watching him – probably wondering what he means by “misbehaving”) Well, we'd been together off and on since I was 14, but we done it all the way the first time when I was 16, on my birthday. We stayed together for a while, but just got bored. It wasn't goin' nowhere. The sex was fun, but it weren't like this.

SIMON: (Smiling) I can relate.

KAYLEE: I played around with some other guys for fun, but nothing that meant much. The other guy that mattered was older, a friend of my father's, not as old as daddy, but a lot older un me. We were together for a few months until I found out he's married (rolling her eyes). I thought he was in love with me, that maybe we’d get married. He treated me nice, and he was a better lover than most, but he was only playin'. The last guy before you only mattered 'cause he's the reason I'm on Serenity, (Sheepish) but you probably heard about that.

SIMON: (Taken aback) It wasn't, uh, someone on board now, was it?

KAYLEE: (Laughing hard) Oh, hell no. You thinkin' I done it with Mal?

SIMON: (Laughing now too) Better than Jayne.

KAYLEE: (Making an "icky" face and punching him lightly) Ain't THAT desperate!! No, Mal's first mechanic, Bester. Serenity spent more than a week at the docks where we worked. Well, he came onto me and asked if I wanted to see the ship. I was still feelin' petty low about the married fellow, so I thought, "what the heck." Bester snuck me aboard ‘n Mal walked in on us in the engine room. I fixed the ship, and Mal hired me. So now you know my life story, or at least my love life story. Not mad, are ya?

Simon has been caressing and kissing Kaylee under the sheet as she talks, his hand slips down farther and makes Kaylee sigh.

SIMON: (Sexy) No, not mad at all. A little jealous maybe, but glad to know I haven’t any competition on board. (Kissing her neck) Ummmm, and right now I’d like to find out just what you had planned to do to me if it was my first time.

KAYLEE: (Giggling) Well, seein’ as you asked nice....

She pushes him onto his back and rolls on top, kissing and caressing him. This time is more playful, more about discovering what they both like.

WASH AND ZOE’S BUNK

Wash and Zoë are asleep, spooning, when they are awakened again. This time it's happy laughter mixed with moans, shrieks of delight, etc. Wash sits up and looks at the bulkhead. The noises cease for a bit, but as he tries to get comfortable they begin again.

WASH: (Incredulous) What the! bù kê néng!

ZOE: (Smooth and sexy) I'm beginning to think I should have seduced the doctor myself. They say it's always the quiet ones...

WASH: Hello, husband lying right here. Not one of the quiet ones. Okay, well, quieter than that, I guess.

ZOE: (Pulling him to her) You'll just have to prove them wrong then, won't you?

As they begin kissing there are more noises through the bulkhead.

WASH: You know, I think I need to go over there and ask him just what he’s doing to get her to squeal like that so I can try it on you.

ZOE: (Suggestive smile) Why don’t you just experiment and find out for yourself.

Wash silently mimics running down a list of possibilities and scratches his head. Then he acts as if a light bulb has gone on, and ducks down under the covers. Zoë bites her lip and gasps.

ZOE: Good choice.

MAL’S BUNK

Mal is lying on his side with the blanket bunched up over his ear, looking forlorn. Noises much louder in here than in Wash and Zoë’s bunk. This time he can hear Simon as well. They are clearly having a VERY good time.

KAYLEE’S BUNK

All is calm now. Kaylee and Simon lay happily tangled in the sheets, her head on his chest. Simon moves as if to sit up. Kaylee slides off him sleepily and rolls onto her back as he gets up from the bed. She realizes he's moving away from her.

KAYLEE: (Slightly alarmed) You ain't leavin' are ya?

She pulls herself up into a semi-reclined position, her hair spread out on the pillows.

SIMON: You aren't getting rid of me that easily.

He heads toward the jug of water on her table and pours a glass.

SIMON: I’m just really thirsty. How about you?

KAYLEE: (Gazing at the back of his naked body, openly appreciative and a bit awed) Uh huh.

Simon turns toward her with the glass in his had, totally comfortable with the fact he’s standing in her bunk completely naked.

SIMON: You okay?

KAYLEE: (Licks her lips) Yeah, I guess it’s just the shock of seein’, well, all of you at once standin’ here in my room. I been so busy concentratin’ on the parts, I ain't noticed how they’re put together.

Blushing slightly, he takes a couple of steps in the direction of the bed and yanks the sheet off her, laughing.

SIMON: (Drinking her in) There, now we're even. He hands her the glass to drink from first and sits on the edge of the bed, bumping her slightly. Water spills down her chest and a bit pools in her naval. Simon leans over and licks it up, working his way up to her chin. She shivers.

SIMON: (Leaning across her, kissing her ear, and wrapping his arms around her) I'm sorry, are you cold?

He pulls the sheet back over her.

KAYLEE: Not cold, but if you keep doing that you'll get me started again.

SIMON: (Sweet and teasing, still caressing her) If that’s the case I think I’ll stop touching you until I’ve had little time to recover. It's not like I'm 18 anymore.

KAYLEE: No, please don’t stop. I’ll be good. (Pause) So, you were doing this when you were 18?

He takes the glass, drinks, and licks his lips.

SIMON: (Appraising, gauging her reaction, a little shy) Uh huh. I had my first full-fledged girlfriend my second year in college. I won't go into detail, except to say that anything I do that you particularly like, that you don't teach me yourself, you can pretty much thank her for.

Simon hands her the glass and climbs over her to lie on the inside of the bunk, pulling the sheet over both of them.

KAYLEE: I'm thinkin’ of writin’ her a note... What happened, why ain’t you together no more?

SIMON: We went out for about eight months, and then she dumped me for an old boyfriend.

KAYLEE: I'm sorry.

SIMON: I’m not anymore. It's probably a good thing Carolyn and I didn't get serious and want to marry because there is no way my parents would have allowed it. We were from different worlds.

Simon notices Kaylee's pained look and curls up around her.

SIMON: (Tenderly, running his finger over her cheek and lips) Besides, if we’d stayed together chances are I wouldn’t be here with you right now, and I would have missed out on being with my true love.

KAYLEE: (Smiling again, gently nibbling his finger.) So, I take it if she was doin’ all this teachin’ she wasn't a virgin.

SIMON: Nope, but neither was I.

KAYLEE: (Surprised) Oh, I thought....

SIMON: No, I gave my virginity to the girl next door when we were 15, and took hers in exchange.

KAYLEE: 15!??

SIMON: Yep.

He pulls back and sits up, takes the water from her and drinks, contemplating her over the rim of the glass, wondering how much to say.

KAYLEE: But you said Carolyn was your first real girlfriend.

SIMON: Elizabeth wasn't my girlfriend. We weren't even really that interested in each other, but circumstances threw us together and hormones took over.

KAYLEE: What happened? (Pause) I don’t mean, “What happened?”…I guess I mean how…sorry.

SIMON: No, it’s okay. She'd broken some ribs in a skiing accident and missed school. My mother offered to have me help her catch up. The first couple of tutoring sessions were in her parents' dining room, but the weather got nice so her mother sent us out to their summerhouse to be out of her way. She kissed me on the cheek that afternoon. Within a couple of weeks we were making out more that we were studying, and the next thing I knew we were naked on her mother's chaise. You sure this doesn’t bother you, me telling you this?

KAYLEE: No, ‘cause what’s past is past, and it makes me know ya better. Is this one of those times you misbehaved?

SIMON: Yeah, it was. We only did it three times, or rather several times on three occasions, but we were stupid and careless. The last time was after I'd been away visiting my cousins for a few days and I was just dying to get my hands on her. So there we were, really caught up in what we were doing, when River appeared in the doorway.

KAYLEE: Oh no!

SIMON: Oh yes! She just stood there for a moment, like she was trying to figure out what was going on, and then her eyes got huge and she ran back to our house and told our mothers. They were having afternoon tea together. River had been sent to find us.

KAYLEE: Did you get a beatin'?

SIMON: A beating would have been better than what happened. If it had been my father who had caught us I would have gotten a lecture about safe sex and advice on not getting caught. For, you see, Elizabeth was a very good catch. Mother was not so understanding. There was some shouting. Elizabeth's parents went super nova and sent her away to an all girl’s school. I still got the lecture and all my privileges taken away. I also lived in fear for weeks that I'd gotten her pregnant. She managed to send me a note telling me she wasn't. The worst was River. She would barely speak to me, wouldn't look at me at all for days. I learned my lesson and I’ve been very, very, careful ever since.

KAYLEE: (Sexy and suggestive) You’re just fulla surprises tonight.

Simon responds by tackling her playfully, planting kisses over whatever bit of skin becomes available as she wriggles and squirms. Kaylee pulls away breathlessly, but keeps her arms around him.

KAYLEE: (Mock scolding) Now wait a minute. You changed the subject. I told you ‘bout my important lovers, but you skipped one. No fair tryin’ to distract me.

Simon pulls away a bit farther and looks at her, hesitating, pain in his eyes. He is quiet for a long moment.

SIMON: (Sighing) Kaylee, I... I don't even know where to begin. I don't want you to be hurt, or mad, or to run away. I'm so... ashamed of myself. How I’ve behaved.

KAYLEE: (Look of loving concern) Simon, ain't nothin' you can say that’ll make me leave, not now. Not unless you're married, or somethin'. (Seeing the look on his face) Oh God, you ain't married, are ya?

SIMON: (Stricken by the look of fear on her face) Damn near. (Tears well up in his eyes)

WHAT!? That came out of nowhere! Want to know... Now! Update!
:Breathes: Cliffy's do that to me. Just wanted to say I really enjoy this story. Methinks Mal should move somewhere else, far away from the crew's bunks... Inara's shuttle, perhaps?

Very shiny. I laughed at Wash and Zoe listening to Simon and Kaylee and trying to pick up hints! As for Mal, I think he should relocate to Inara's shuttle too, then she could use her companiony ways to prove that they can make even more interesting sounds when then the mood takes them! Ali D :~)

Wow, I SO DID NOT see that ending coming. Talk about a cliff hanger!

I also loved Wash and Zoe's reactions to hearing Kaylee and Simon. It made me laugh. As for Mal, I'm going to agree with the posts above mine. He needs to move to Inara's shuttle. Or at the very least, he could get some ear plugs.

This is a great story. I can't wait to read more! Keep up the excellent work! =o)

Funny and sexy!
I loved Wash's comment: 'You know, I think I need to go over there and ask him just what he’s doing to get her to squeal like that so I can try it on you.' Excellent!
