GEEZER

Well, Here I Am

Found on the voice recorder of a space helmet in a second-hand shop near Eavesdown Docks, Persephone.

Well, here I am, just an object in space

Big bad bounty hunter taken down by a teenage girl

And I never even saw her face

It’s difficult to admit it, the way I was played

How could I believe I was talking to a ship?

How could I make all the mistakes I made?

No one has ever gotten inside my head like that before

That’s supposed to be my specialty; what I do to them

Where did she find the key to open my mind’s door?

Sneaking onto my ship, that was a clever move

Found all she needed there to cause me confusion

As my current uncomfortable position does amply prove

She was wrong about some things, though. I don’t like causing pain

I just have to do it as a palliative

Something to quiet the darkness that whispers in my brain

And that crew was something special. After the way they talked

I didn’t think they would really care

If I had just taken her and walked

But they risked their lives, and worse, to save the one they feared

And used the things they feared about her to do it

Not a very logical response at all; and not a little weird.

So here I float, surrounded by nothing, marking my place in the ‘verse

And I …Hmm, what’s that?

This is great. I've often contemplated what was going through his mind after his involuntary space walk. A lot of the same thoughts occured to me but not in such poetical form. Good work giving substance to what many were wondering. Shiny

LOL @ involuntary space walk and so true. Nice work here, Geezer. I'm a long luxurious fanfiction kinda girl, but I do like this little window into the mind of my favorite floater.

ANONYMOUSE

I always thought Early was just about to be rescued - in fact, in the fanfic season I'm writing, I think he WILL be. He's just too delicious a character to leave alone. This is shiny!
