Jayne couldn’t believe what he had just done. Here he was walking into a job and his entire mind was on was Inara. She walked ahead of him up the street. When Mal told him that he had convinced Inara to take part in this job he didn’t know she would distract him.

It started when they boarded the her shuttle, they were on their way and Inara had stepped behind a dressing screen to changed into that dress, the captain and River were busy with the pilotin’ and so Jayne tried to keep himself busy by checking his weapons, but the dressing screen was close enough to Inara’s mirror that he got glimpses of skin as well.

The curves of her thighs; the flatness of her stomach, he looked up, the dress came down over her head, he glimpsed more, firm full breasts. And the dress covered it all. No undergarments, just the dress against her skin. Heat rose in Jayne’s body.

He shouldn’t be lustin’ after Inara. Aside from Mal telling him that if he ever tried anything on Inara he would be shooting the breeze on the other side of the airlock. He had promised not to. He shook his head and turned back to his gun in hand, concentratin’ hard at makin’ sure it was ready to fire if needed. The images of her kept popping up in his mind, he couldn’t stop them nor could he believe how beautiful a woman she was. Maybe it was time to break a promise he thought.

River sat in the pilot seat, a small smile played on her face.

Back on the street, they had reached their destination and it was time for Inara to strut her stuff.

Hmm, if these chapters get any shorter the comments will be longer than the story. Amused at Jayne's reaction though. Ali D :~)

Interesting thoughts from Jayne's head...though I gotta wonder how Jayne trying to take the initiative will fare;)
