A/N: Written for the ff_friday challenge (100-1000 words using the expressions "Am I inuterrupting something" and "Only my utter humiliation." Gosh, but I love a writing challenge. And it's Silee, too! Please comment.

“Am I interrupting something?” Inara inquired as she stood at the foot of the steps from the hold to the lounge.

“What? Oh...uh...what?” Simon immediately rose from the couch and wiped his mouth. “We were just...it’s not... that is...”

The Companion smiled warmly at the young man, but said nothing as she stepped into the lounge proper. “I wouldn’t want to keep you two from anything important.” She sauntered past Kaylee sitting on the couch, giving her friend a knowing look. “Good night, you two.”

Once Inara was out of sight, Simon’s breath rushed out. “That was a little awkward.” He smiled at Kaylee and immediately stopped. “Not with you.” He gestured between them. “That was...well it was very good.”

“Darn right,” the mechanic finally said, her recent frown fading. “But ya don’t gotta get all prim and proper ‘round Inara. She understands needs more’n any of us.” She tapped the seat next to her.

Simon took the cue and fell into the couch. “It’s just a little uncomfortable getting caught.”

She playfully slapped Simon’s shoulder. “Oh, don’t worry none ‘bout that. Inara is a companion, if ya recall. She can’t be all stuck up and tense when it come to a man and a woman.” She leaned her body into Simon’s, her chest pressing into his arm. “An’ we are.”

“Are what?”

Kaylee grinned slyly. “A man and a woman.” She drew her finger along his neck and chest, smiling more when he shivered at the touch. He cupped her chin and kissed her lips, closing his eyes at the taste of her. He reached around and held her back and shoulders as he gently laid her back onto the couch, exploring more of her body and she his.

“Oh, Simon,” Kaylee breathed heavily. “That’s just...oh.”

They continued together some minutes more, Kaylee finally glad to have his affections directed her way.

“You’re doing it wrong,” a loud voice called from the shadow.

Simon jumped straight off the couch at hearing his sister’s voice. “River! Are you spying on us?”

She stepped out into the dim light. “Your form is lacking.”

Simon shook his head. “How long have you...what did you see...wait! I don’t want to know.” He rubbed his forehead.

River slide past her brother. “Do it right or don’t do it at all,” her voice echoed behind her.

He looked to see Kaylee laughing quietly. “I can’t believe she was watching us.”

“Don’t bother me none. Shouldn’t you neither.” She kept laughing. “Oh, it ain’t that bad, is it?”

“Bad? Bad! My little sister caught us...” He frowned and made more hand gestures of a more adult nature.

Kaylee reached her hand to Simon and he took it as he sat down once again. “So she seen us. She’s a big girl. Ain’t nothin’ bad gonna happen.”

“Except having visions of her watching us again.” He shook his head and muttered, “Only my utter humiliation.”
