I'm a convert as of a year ago, for the same reasons you listed. It sounded so dumb.....but when I finally sat down and watched it, I loved it.

Welcome, Danielle! As has been said, we're a friendly bunch, and if nobody has offered you a brown coat and a mug of Mudders Milk, let me do so right now! We aim to keep the 'verse alive, and I think we're doing a pretty good gorram job of it. So sit down, take a long drink, and sing along ... "Jayne, the man they call Jayne ..."

The space western thing kinda loses it's silliness when you see how it's implemented. The backstory makes it fairly plausible.

And aside from gorramn, it's not like there aren't people talking like them nowadays. Really the bigger question would be why 1800 fashion made a comeback, but that could be explained if the frontierism on the rim made those fashions the most reasonable for the environment, or if western US 1800s was considered some ideal period in history to emulate for all these future pioneers.

Hello Danielle, welcome aboard

Well you certainly aren’t alone in missing the boat when it came to not seeing the tv series when it aired back in 2002. I’m afraid that many of us did ( yepper I’m included) but you’re here now and that’s what counts. All I can say is just keep spreading the word about this fantastic tv show as much as you can and hold on for more ( I’m hoping we get something soon).

I’ve got two, of the half dozen box sets out on loan right now, and I am expecting to hear from these folk shortly on how much they liked it!

The browncoats are extra friendly here, and there is always something going on. You can choose you’re level of involvement and there are tons of links that lead to all kinds of Firefly related stuff.
