The fic never dies!
Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Been intending to blog for a few weeks now, but it’s easy to convince myself that folks have moved on and it’s just silly to update on my fic yet again. But this one’s for Tag, who left a comment on my latest chapter of Back Stories III, 7 months old now…

I set myself a challenge for nanowrimo, the month of November, 2009. I didn’t meet my goal, but I at least got something done: I managed a good 8000 words which set out 4 chapters past the 3 new ones already written. That’s enough to link up my posted chapters to certain pivotal scenes I wrote three years ago. This is very good news, since holiday break is only days away and I mean to fill these brand new chapters out and get back to posting during break.

I can’t apologize enough for the delays, but I assure anyone who still recalls the plot I’ve spun that there is indeed an end planned, and it will be reached. Not a “the gods did it all” cop-out like some shows (I’ve been watching BSG lately—love the show, don’t love the series ending.) I’ve got a real I’ve-been-intending-this-since-early-2006 type ending. I haven’t chosen my plot randomly is what I mean to say.

Uh… almost. I can’t promise to catch all the nuances that Joss’s amazing characters brings to the stage, and my readers and fellow writers have left comments pointing out things beyond what I intended. I find that cool, even if I might not quite live up to it. I’ve done my best to tie up all the plot threads I intentionally left hanging over the years, and I think I’ve got most of them.

One disclaimer required: I’ll state right now that there’s a certain scene I imagined a few years back, then rejected as too challenging to most readers who like my stuff. I recently reread the original version and liked it too much to cut it. Stick in there and don’t hate me, is all I can say.

:)

Glad to hear the fic hasn't died, but also regretful that I've never found a moment to get into your stuff. 'Tis awesome, though, that you have a good solid idea of where you're going with it. How to get there is always the real trick though, isn't it? Filling it in adequately and in a way that holds folks' interest? That's the part that really sucks for me. But it's good to have something definite to work toward so that you actually have half a mind to finish it one of these years (although you can take as long as you damn well please getting there).

I am so happy that you decided to finish your story! I have been waiting to find out what happens to Mal & Inara.

Now if we can just get CharlieBZ to finish her story, my little Browncoat heart will be so happy!

Looking forward to reading your next chapter!!

Saw "Finding Nemo" not too long ago. All I can say is "just keep swimming".

Been waiting patiently for more from your fic. Good fic from good writers never loses its appeal. The amazing thing is the 'verse never gets old. Bring on more!

Oh you're silly! Of course people still read! And reread.

...Several times...

I think people enjoy a well-written character study of psychological trauma wrapped in the setting of a favourite television series with superb characterization, plot, mood, surprises, dash of romance, action, and believable backstories.

You know, people being... >_> <_< Yeah, alright, I know. Busted.
