Another parental lie blog...Sorry.
Sunday, April 26, 2009

Every time I bring up the fact that they're getting on my case about exercising, even though, I've finally worked out a system, it just dosen't seem fast enough for them. Granted we've had trust issues in the past, but, I've kept to my word about exercising three times a week, plus at least once on weekends(on my own time and terms). Every time I've done that, they've gotten on my case about exercising on the days I didn't plan out with them.

I'm thinking I need Dr. Phil here,

ANOTHERSKY

I'm hearing the frustration here. I have parental difficulties also. It always makes me think of that scene in Cool Hand Luke:

"what we have here is a failure to communicate."

Brutally honestly. Sometimes brutal honesty is the hardest thing. But it takes a lot of brutal honesty to offset one teeny lie, by either party. That's what makes it so easy not to communicate.

Best of luck--and whether they care or not, keep exercising. It's something you do for your body that will be excellent in both short and long term. Good luck.

NEWOLDBROWNCOAT

Dude, I gotta exercise too, and I'm an old PHART. And I flat -out HATE it. it's a boring waste of time I wanta spend doin' other stuff. The only thing I can suggest is what worked for me for a while: I can't do it 3 days a week. If it's important enough to do, I gotta do it EVERY GORRAMM DAY. I've walked 5 out of the last 7, I keep records, and I'm aiming for 7 out of the next 7. do that long enough, and it becomes a habit. I still don't like it, but I do it.
Only other thing is that I decided to do it, myself, nobody made me. "To mine own self, be true." I decided I'm gonna do it, so I'm gonna by DAMN do it.
good luck.
