came home from my job, second shift, the other night. My Daughter met me in the courtyard of our building.

" Dad, this isn't as bad as it's gonna sound." Oh, gose, what happened now?

" There's nobody home down at your house." Mrs. Browncoat ran off with an Alliance type Guy?

" The cat didn't mean to hurt anybody." All that gets is a Nathan Fillion " Huh?" look.

" Mom's down at the Emergency Room." Oh, yeah, that's as bad as it sounds...

We've got these 2 ex-tomcats who sometimes fight. Mrs. NOBC tried to break them up, then got in the middle and tried to pick one up barehanded. Daughter sez it clawed both hands, one real bad, and her leg after she dropped it. Mrs. called Daughter, wanted her to help bandage her up so she could get a taxi or bus to the Hospital Daughter, sensibly enough, woke up Son_In-Law, and they drove her to the Hospital . They got her squared away there, then drove home. Son-In-Law's truck is not 100 % legal, something about outstanding parking tickets, and as they pulled out of the parking lot, a cop car pulled out right behind them. They figured, " Tickets, impound, jail." but all he did was follow then all the way home.

So I drove down to the Hospital. Mrs. BC was in the waiting room, with about 50 other folks, with 1 arm that looked like a mummy. She said that they'd wrapped her up enough that she wouldn't bleed all over the place, but she was now stable , and had to wait for more treatment, as they had a full house, and other folks worse off than her. She figured about another 2 hour wait, so I could go home, get some sleep, she had a phone, she'd call me, since she wasn't gonna get any sleep, but figured she could still mamage to get to her job, but I hadda get some sleep to do mine.

I went home, went to bed, next thing I knew it was 6 AM and I was wide awake. No phone call. OH, crap, maybe some kind of complications or something. I drove back down there, they were just about to release her, the X-RAYS were OK, all they had to do was disconnect the IV. Huh? Well, just in case a claw or tooth broke off in there somewhere, or
in case of trouble, and they'd shot her full of antibiotics thru it, but no problem. She was a lovely yellow-orange color, seems they painted her from head to toe, almost, with Beta-Dyne. They'd had serious cases all night, car crashes, heart attacks, serious stuff like that, and she'd rated a low priority.

I drove her home, got her into the house and laid down, then went and got her prescriptions, and some breakfast for both of us. She slept a couple of hours, then decided that she wouldn't go to her work after all. Good choice, the bandaged hand was the one she uses on the handrail while climbing the stairs to her room. When I left for work, she was dozing in the recliner chair, with the cat that clawed her sleeping the sleep of the innocents on her chest...

She's had one follow-up visit since, and one more to go. Everything looks good, no infection, the bandage keeps getting smaller, they unwrapped her fingers and she can use her hand, carefully, so it looks like just a matter of time to heal up.
