a judge of character?

I watched 'the message' earlier tonight. I'm watching 'Jaynestown' now.

I asked a family member to watch the show earlier tonight. I wanted them to "weigh in on what they saw on the show". I didn't specify any episode to watch. I just wanted an opinion.

So....can we judge someone by there opinion of firefly? does it say something about their character?

Because I like good discussion......so please let me know what you think!

how does "dont judge a book by its cover" sound.... i am said book.

But to judge their responses to the actions and words of individual characters on a show like Firefly would be an interesting and perhaps quite valid method of determining the viewer's character.

now, heres the thing... according to a test i recently took, i am most like Jayne, and yet to look (as objectively as possible) the only character on firefly i can truely relate to is Kaylee. and this is based not on what she said, but what she didnt say in "shindig". the shiny dress incident? Jayne swapping left foot for right when he belittled Kaylee for wanting the frilly pink dress. the phrase 'you can take the girl from the engine room but you cant take the enigineer out of the girl" realy seems to apply. ~~~thinks that just cause she dont wear girly clothes dont mean she dont want to be seen and treated like a lady sometimes~~

now i read, if it has words, i read it. i embroider, i sew period costumes (and wear them) i love teddy bears and kittens. does this change the fact that im also into off-road rally cars, pannel beating and wouldnt be caught dead in a 'fashionable' modern dress or skirt.

no way!

reactions to one scenario dont always give a clear view to the character of man.

after all i have a fear of needles and yet im proud of my tattoos!

This is a great response.

I agree with what you said. I just want to know what kind of people there are out there.

My plan is currently in effect. I thank you for responding.

I hope to hear from her soon :)

Since you want discussion....

Sure, I think a person's opinion says a lot about them. Everything from what they thought to how they phrase their opinions can reveal a lot about character. But I don't think you can judge them as a person solely on their opinion of a TV show. That would be like judging a persone solely because they were a Democrat or Republican.

I have a lot of friends who don't like Sci-fi, who don't have the same taste in music as I do, and who don't like to read what (or as much) as I read. I certainly hope they aren't judging me just because I'm not in line with their thinking all of the time.

Still, when it comes to Firefly, I think that the one thing that you can say is that people who love the series exhibit a greater intelligence, ability to be descerning and a more refined sense of taste and class than your run-of-the-mill person... (There. How was THAT for non-judgemental!)
