Mixing things up.
Saturday, June 14, 2008

The summer weather is far too good to ignore any photo opportunities.

I've taken it upon myself to really push the envelope on my photography skills. Photography is something that I love - to the point where I actually hate it sometimes.

Sometimes, I forget what the driving force is. Why am I really taking these pics? What am I trying to say with this shot? It's easy to become complacent, once you get into a monotonous pattern. The quality slips, and so does the muse.

So, I'm now taking considerable care with the quality, experimenting further with the type of shots that I can take, and ULTIMATELY mixing up the subject matter.

Here are a few of my latest shots.

Thanks AngelleMarcs. **Blush.**

The insect close ups were a life saver. I nearly didn't get any shots yesterday.

Originally, I'd wanted to visit a park, to take pictures of this big ol' Manor house. 'Cept, the one shot that I managed to take didn't really turn out too well. Awkward positioning of the sun made it difficult to see anything. It was so bright.

Plus, a big black labrador, that pounded towards me, while I was on my knees in the middle of this grassy area, kinda broke my concentration. :)

But...

There were lots of bees swarming around this floral display, and I wanted to take some shots of them milling about the flowers. It was tricky to keep track of their movements. I was hanging around this large floral display for ages ,but it was worth it. One of them hovered down onto some green leaves in front of me, which was lucky and kinda nerve racking. Hehehe.. The bee just sat there for a few mins, so it was fortunate to have a lot of time to line up the shot. The same applies with the lil' fly. I swear that the fly actually wanted to have its picture taken. It looks like it's posing! :D

So, uh.. The insect and plant shots were really lucky. It's inpired me to explore this category further.

I'm glad that you like these shots. Your interest and support of my photography, and your input really means a lot.
