Today, I met actor, screenwriter and director of the movie 'Kidulthood', Noel Clark. Most sci-fi fans will recognise him as Rose's boyfriend, Mickey, from the new series of Doctor Who.

The signing took place between 11am and 1pm, at the Forbidden Planet comic store. So, that meant I had to travel by train to Glasgow, (where the signing was being held), pretty early. I really wanted to get a good spot in the queue. I must have been out of my f****** mind, hehehe, 'cause I was still feeling pretty ill with a bad cold virus.

I ended up waking up at 06:45 this morning, ready to boak (puke), but I was determined to go to this thing. An upset stomach would have to wait until after the event.

My face was a picture when I was sitting on the train. As the familiar tower blocks of the Glasgow skyline approached, I could see the overcast clouds and spits of rain on the window. The train would arrive at Glasgow at 08.25. I was dreading the prospect of standing outside the comic store for over two and a half hours, while it was pissing it down. (Talk about dedication. Or, is that madness?)

Thankfully, it wasn't bucketing down. It was pretty cold though. At one point, my shoes had let through with the rain, and I got foot cramp with all the standing around. BUT, I had met two people called Catherine and Graeme who were really pleasant and fun company, and our conversations helped to pass the time.

Incidently, my upset stomach had calmed down some, and I actually felt better as the day progressed. Catherine and Graeme were great.

The comic store is pretty small, and I was wondering where the signing table would go. A trivial and ridiculous notion to be occupying yourself with, but believe me, the place is tiny. The store is packed with bookshelves and lots of cool memorabilia, but you couldn't swing a space monkey in there.

Also, I imagined that Noel Clark would have been escorted into the premises via the back door.

NOPE.

He walked in off the street, and through the front door! O.O The 30 or so folk, (who had amassed at that point), were freezing their asses off outside, and it must have been a proper sight. Hehehe. It was a cool moment though. The first time that you meet an actor in the flesh is kinda odd and cool, and never gets old.

The signing kicked off on time. We were allowed to get one personal item signed. I had brought along one of my Doctor Who DvDs – specifically the episodes ‘Tooth and Claw’, ‘School Reunion’ and ‘The Girl In The Fireplace.’ I had also bought a Doctor Who book in store, which dealt with the character of Mickey.

The most important thing that I wanted to do was to take a photograph. I love to capture a memory from these kinds of events. One of the shop assistants said that it was cool to take a photo. Another one said that it wasn’t. When I approached the signing table, the assistant that said ‘yes’ practically snatched my camera off me and took my picture, to my astonishment hahahah. I was trying to keep cool and not blabber like an idiot in Noel Clark’s company.

I found Noel Clark to be very relaxed and chatty. He asked me how I was doing. I said that being here was a good start to the weekend. People keep fixating on the spelling of my name, hehehe, which is kinda embarrassing. I was kinda bricking it, but managed to keep things non-embarrassing.

Noel Clark even winked at me, as I went away. I had said: ‘I hope that you enjoy the rest of the signing and your visit here.'

On a separate note, there was a female photographer on standby, so I’m wondering if she took a photo of me for the website.

Overall, it was pretty cool. I just wanted to record the details of this morning’s experience.
