What is Your Firefly Obsession Rating?
Thursday, January 31, 2008

OK, we are all a little obsessed over this show or we wouldn't be on this fan site. Here are ten things I thought would identify the Totally Obsessed Fans. Check the list and add up the ones that apply to you. Here's the list.

You know you are obsessed with Firefly if:

1. You can quote lines of dialouge, knowing who said what, when, why, and where, from all episodes and Serenity.
2. You dream of Firefly and/or the actor's in it.
3. You've written at least one fanfic about Firefly.
4. You watch anything the nine main characters are in even if it's crap.
5. You have a Firefly actor's name on your Myspace friend's list.
6. You've spent your months rent and car payment to get to a convention to have your photo taken with a Firefly actor.
7. You feel physical withdrawal if you don't watch at least one episode of Firefly per week.
8. You cried when Wash and Book died in the BDM. And do so on repeated DVD viewings.
9. You know every detail of some or all of the main actor's lives and troll the web looking for stories and pics about them and the show.
10. You would give up your life savings and a kidney to finance the shows return to production.

Please feel free to add any others you can think of. By the way, I scored 8 out of 10. I've never been to a convention or met any of the actors. I didn't cry when Wash and Book died because I saw the movie before the show and had nothing invested in the characters.

Stay shiny!

12. Studied the cross-section and deck plans in the Serenity Blueprints Reference Pack.
13. Voted innumerable times for Firefly as the Best TV Show of All Time. Ten or twenty times would have been enough.
14. Purchased Serenity Collector's Edition DVD only for the commentary by Fillion, Baldwin, Glau, and Glass. And listened to the commentary twice.
15. Purchased and watched twice the DVD "Done The Impossible - The Fans' Tale of Firefly & Serenity."

1- definately.
2- I don't really dream at all, or at least I can't remember what I dream when I wake up.
3- applies, sorta, I made an image, but I can't write at all
4- I don't have any cable, so I can't, but I'd like to.
5- I don't have a MySpace, and am not likely to
6- I've never been to a browncoat con, because I don't have any money, but I wish I could
7- I used to, but I stopped watching the eps. that much because I didn't want to watch it too much and have it turn sour
8- I never cry at movies, but I did get really sad, and still do
9- I am VERY, VERY against that sort of thing. I do searches on the web for Firefly/Serenity pics, though.
10- my life savings might get me gas for half a mile, but I'd donate a kidney, lung, alot of blood, hair, whatever it took

So, I'd say 5, including what I wish I could do.

Even though I can only claim four out of your ten, I still consider myself to be totally obsessed with Firefly/Serenity.

If I could control what I dream, I'm sure Firefly would be a huge part of that. I have never written any fanfic whatsoever, just ain't talented in that direction. I don't now, nor probably will I ever have a MySpace page. My finances are such that if I spent my rent money for a convention I would be homeless when I returned. However, I have met Nathan, Ron and Morena, and hopefully will meet the other BDHs in the future. A couple of years ago, number 7 would have applied, but now it's roughly every other month. I respect the BDHs too much to obsess over number 9. As for my life savings, that might get me gas money to get to the Serenity II premiere, and I'm saving my extra kidney for any relative that might need it. I will allocate a large part of my future lottery winnings for another series though.

11. If any of your fellow workers look like a character you try to convince them to change their name and/or dress like said character. (we have a guy at work, Geoff, who looks like Jayne... a fellow browncoat, Nat, and I managed to get him to wear my Jayne hat this winter... he got a lot of awesome looks)
I score an 8... I'm not allowed to give up rent or car payments to go to conventions in America (I live in Australia) and I only have one kidney ... but if I DID have 2 I would in a heartbeat.
