Con-version 2004: Day 2
Sunday, August 8, 2004

Firefly discussion day turned more into listen to one Firefly fan rant happily about the show. A couple of other people got their say too, but the one fan just kept on talking. There wasn't really a point to the discussion; we sorta just hopped from one topic to the other, talking about the movie and what made the show so great. At one point we kinda wandered into Buffy and practically ruined the ending of the show for one lady who was still working on watching all of the DVDs.

The one thing that bothered me was the way the happily ranting fan kept mentioning the official board. For whatever reason I just couldn't care. I like it here; I don't care if none of the actors visits this site daily or that Joss or Chris don't post messages to the fans here. I mean, should that really matter? Plus happily ranting fan called FFF.net "stodgy" last night. Whatever, dude.

All in all, it was nice to spend more time with fellow Browncoats. There was unanimous agreement among all the female fans that there should be more "Captain No Pants" in the movie. Mention was also made of how the characters are actual people and not cardboard cut outs and I totally agree that's what makes Firefly such a great concept. The show may have been labelled a sci-fi western, but there was little focus on the science part.

Sigh. How many days left?

And an interesting concept was brought up. When Star Wars Episode III comes out, buy a ticket for Serenity and just sneak in to Star Wars. Hey, I'm just planning to sneak in food like Nathan told me to.

SHINY

No true browncoat should ever bad-mouth another browncoat, much less an entire browncoat community. He/she needs to focus more energy on bringing more people into fireflyfandom, not fracturing and dividing and categorizing those already here.
