Not Just Another Football Game
Saturday, September 1, 2007

Alright, as some of you know, I'm a college student in the mountains of NC. If you've been paying any attention to football this afternoon you will have seen one of the biggest football upsets ever in history. Appalachian State beat out Michigan. That's right, MY school, beat out a Big Ten Football powerhouse...

Oh I hope there aren't any Michigan fans here... I mean how embarassing! To pay a school thousands of dollars to come play, because you think they'll be an easy win, only to be humiliated on your home turf...

We're not back to back Nat'l Champs for nothing! Go Mountaineers! I wish I was in Boone right now. There are 2000 people partying on River St. and they tore down both of our goal posts. But I'm at home with my family so I'll just have to party Tuesday through Saturday where we have our first home game!

Okay I'm gonna go gloat some more

Is it legal to cross-pollenate blogs like this?

I didn't know about the cupcake comment. I thought that was what y'all called each other down there. (I have southern connections so I can make fun. My wife's kin come from Kentucky, so all things Boone are cool.)

That was a great response to ESPN though!

The defeat by you 'n' your'n was not quite so humiliating as the loss to Oregon. Even giants may be surprised by little Jacks and little Davids. Oregon makes us worry somethin' turrible about the rest o' th' season tho'. Seems our game this coming Saturday with God's team--er, Notre Dame--marks the first time in 98 years that neither team is ranked.

All bluster aside (and especially since you talked so nice about my missus), well done. I hope the notariety for your team turns into a good thing for all of you. Well done.

('Sides, I laughed into my Museum of Appalachia t-shirt in spite of myself when I heard we got beat.)

You should gloat! A well deserved gloating opportunity I must say. Gratz!

ECU grad here. So, I am lil used to the underdog mentality. :)

Good luck with the season.

My parents laughed when they heard about that. I think it helped them (especially my dad) be a little less sad when our team lost.
