Other FOX shows wanted on DVD
Friday, July 23, 2004

With the success of Firefly, one can only hope that we may just get some more short-lived but loved TV series. I especially vote for:

Space: Above and Beyond
Created by Glen Morgan and James Wong (who worked on The X-Files ), any sci-fi lover should check this series out. It's about a space Marine fighter squadron that is working to eliminate the alien threat of the Chigs. Cool FX, great characters, and I really miss it.

Profit
Another show that was really short-lived was the 1996 series Profit , created by Angel vet David Greenwalt. It starred Adrian Pasdar as this executive who schemed and evilled his way to the top. The show only ran for a couple of episodes, but I remember it very clearly as something unique and original. How many shows can say that its lead character slept in a cardboard box in his apartment?

Strange Luck
Another cool show, starring D.B. Sweeney as a man who experiences odd occurrences of bad/good luck. He had survived a plane crash as a child and because of it all these things started happening to him. Anyone recall that at the end of the series Chance was a given a name that could have helped him find his missing brother...an FBI agent named Fox Mulder.

Unfortunately, FOX seems to be the type of network that will take a chance on an original show, but doesn't follow through with promoting or nurturing it. It's truly amazing that Firefly got DVDs. There are so many cool shows out there that don't.

Yeah, I forgot about Brimstone (I really enjoyed that) and American Gothic (Lucas Black is amazing in that show, as is Gary Cole).

The reason I didn't mention Wonderfalls (which I also love) is because it's supposed to be released on DVD late this year/early next. Tim Minear was talking about it being released. You can go to TVShowsonDVD.com and do a search for Wonderfalls to learn more. That's also a great site to sign up (it's free) and vote for the shows you want to see on DVD. I don't know how much sway they have, but it's worth it just to get your voice heard.

why has no one mentioned Wonderfalls yet? sooooo funny, and sooooo short lived.

and there was a V:tM tv show? i think i knew that... i can see how it'd be short lived, but i can see how it'd be good, as well.

I liked all tree of these shows, i thought i was the only person that saw Profit. I don't recall if they were on Fox, but more recently two other shows that didn't get they chance they deserved: Miracles(priest investigates strange events) and Veritas: the Quest(Very Tomb Raidery but with a team lead by a man and his son instead of a woman, also it had Imotept ; ) ).
