And I'm back to hating my life!
Thursday, March 1, 2007

I FINALLY get my the rest of my most annoying Document Processing course work turned in today. When I turn it in, the teacher is FINALLY there after having not shown up to check papers for the last two months, and she takes a look at my timed typing work, and says that I'd fail the exam I'm supposed to take to get the keyboarding portion of the new certificate I'm working on completed. This is after I spent the last two months typing until my fingers fell asleep. Which should have made me faster, but after two months of typing until as mentioned before, my fingers fall asleep, I'm actually SLOWER than I was typing two months ago!

WHAT THE HELL?!

I once again got into a shouting match with my mother, who actually thinks that all the crap I'm doing is worth it. As it turns out, the work I've been doing just makes me feel retarded!
All for a STUPID Microsoft Certification, that will inevitably turn me into something I've been trying to avoid, a guy with a desk job, who types reports, memos, speadsheets, and other things that I REALLY don't want to do. Not that I have anything against people who do those things, it's just not for me.

P.S. It took me about four minutes to type the bulk of this blog, "that seem right to you?"

Like msg pointed out...it's all about muscle memory. Until I took a typing class in my freshmen year of high school, I hunted and pecked like nuts. Several 1.5 hour classes of doing nothing but typing random things really did improve my typing skills exponentially...after a period where my time dropped drastically as my hands got all cramped and numb from adapting to the new muscle usage. Just gotta keep plugging away till things get better again.

And I can sympathize about the whole "not wanting to end up..." mindset. Spent the last 5 years in university studying history, but I have little interest in doing what most people assume one does with a history degree: teach. I also have zip clue what I wanna do. But I know I gotta find something that I can at least tolerate so I have revenue to support me while I explore potential job choices;)

HUGS well I hate to say this, but practice helps. I didn't really get good at typing until I became a teacher and through sheer constant typing my speed improved. If you don't like the desk job thing though, don't let yourself get sucked in. Find something you like and do that...HUGS

FUTUREMRSFILLION

To steal someone's advice:

step 1 - Breathe
step 2 - breathe

and now for my advice, turn the music up as load as you can, go into the bathroom, close the door and scream as load and as long as you can. Then take a bath.

hugs sent your way.
