Preparing for Valentine's Day
Sunday, February 11, 2007

Valentine's Day is almost upon us, and I don't have a valentine.

What's a girl to do? Desperately search for someone for the day? Mope in her room with a box of chocolates? Sniff at those enjoying the holiday and complain that it's just a corporate marketing emotionally blackmailing people into spending money?

Nope. Well possibly, but not me. Instead I chose to create Valentine's Day banners!

Well what else was I going to do? I *had* planned to study since it's an expensive weekend to go out and I had an exam coming up, but now that that's over and done with I stayed in with not a whole pile to do. Creating banners seemed like fun.

Therefore, I have a bunch of banners that I'll be posting in the blue sun room over the next couple of days. They're all free for everyone to use and, to be honest, they're all pretty simple, but I felt like spreading the love this year

Aside from that, my life is very quiet. Right now I'm figuring out what exams I should do next. I know, I know, I just finished a tough one... still, a teacher is only as good as what she can teach. So my choices are as follows:

ECDL Advanced - which is pretty much the same syllabus as the MOS, so I'll try and get those done soon.

ECDL Webstarter - a new qualification brought out by ECDL / ICDL in web design. It looks like fun! I have a little HTML knowledge so I'd like to give it a go.

ECDL Imagemaker - like the webstarter, except in graphic design. Despite the banners and animations, this is a subject I know next to nothing about, so I'd love to try it and learn more.

FETAC Computer Modules - Further Education and Training Awards Council, in case you were wondering. Unlike the others, these awards are recognised only in Ireland, but they usually translate easily to similar qualifications abroad. I'm still getting information on the different modules and what's involved, but I'm interested as it's the kind of stuff that could eventually lead to positions in lecturing at college level. That would be a long term project though!

I sense lots of homework in the future... think I'll have some graphics / fic fun first...

Happy Valentine's Day, all!

Gotta say, DesktopHippie...I like your style about how to go about surviving the Valentine's Day horror without getting all "Grr! Arrgh!" at the holiday or couples celebrating it;D
