Contains a fair amount of feeling sorry for myself, if you don't want to hear it, please don't read it!
I know somebody is going to click on this ready to curse me out, but it's from Family Guy, and I had no part in it's inception. So, if you want to curse somebody out, his name is Seth McFarlane. Well, so, I've been kinda like, freaked out because after professing my love for the greatest band in the world (The Dixie Chicks) AKA (apparently) the band that shall not be named, I feel like I need to worm my way back into the good graces of Browncoats everywhere. Granted, I've only gotten a couple of posts to the effects of "we hate you and since you're in America, you need to learn to speak American!' but I'm a liberal (more moderate leanings than some) and I feel the way I feel about things. I don't like Bush, I don't like the war in Iraq, I don't like brussel sprouts, these things aren't going to change. But, that's really not the point. You're talking about a person who doesn't just celebrate their birthday as a birthday, but celebrates it as the first time in 1999 that they first heard the Dixie Chicks. This is more than an obsession. This is a way of life. I don't like U2. I'm not going to say hate, but I really, really don't like them. Why? It's totally not important. But there have been plenty of icons and wallpapers done with U2 as the subjects. Would I give that person a hard time because I don't like U2? Heck, no. I would probably just keep going to the next thing. I just don't want a wiggly feeling in my gut when I log on to Fireflyfans.net. I'm a fairly new Browncoat (about a year) and I don't want to think of somebody getting uncomfortable here, and not connecting with other Browncoats. Anyway, yeah, so, I'm just going to continue being me, and I hope that's good enough.

It saddens me greatly that people on this site would judge you because of a band you like. Hell, I hate 99% of popular music, but that doesn't make me think less of those who enjoy it. Just ignore the idiots as best as you can and go on being yourself.

What's the problem with liking the Dixie Chicks? Fred had a poster of them in her office at Wolfram & Hart.

Fine with me. I know exactly what you mean, really. Not just because I love the Dixie Chicks, either. (Natalie and I have the same birthday!)

I'm quite liberal myself, and I don't want to use too broad a brush, but I've noticed that often when I get into a discussion with a conservative, I'll try to share my opinion in a "agree to disagree" way, while they will try to change my opinion, or try to make me feel like I'm an idiot or a terrible person.

What I've decided, is to leave politics out of it, and try to stay out of political debates that crop up around here (sometimes unsuccessfully!) I try not to argue with conservatives, since it's like smashing my head against a brick wall. The wall is unaffected, and I've got a raging headache.
