Happy Birthday to me... NOT!!!
Sunday, September 10, 2006

Yep, folks, thats it for me. I am, officialy, 16 tomorrow. As in 9/11. It sucks. I feel kinda bad, y'know? Feeling happy on 9/11. WHat a GREAT day to be born on, whatwith the two-thousand-ish deaths and the start of some three or so wars. And, then... Steve Irwin died!!! Damn... we'll all miss ya, Steveo. See you on the other side, mate.
Just, well... yeah, thats it... kinda. Like I said, being born on 9/11 sucks a lot. Yeah.

It's one of those sad kinds of things, I guess...being born on the same day something really nasty happened. Had a buddy once who's birthday was on December 7th, so he got to celebrate another year older on the same day the majority of the US Navy's Pacific Fleet got sunk to the bottom of Pearl Harbor.

Like yinyang said, you gotta celebrate the best of your abilities, but be mindful of what happened. Can't let things like that rule your life when it comes to birthdays...but you can't forget about it either.

YINYANG

Well, think about it - 9/11 wasn't always the way it is thought of now. So, enjoy your birthday as your birthday (because you came first), and try not to think too much of what happened.

Besides (and forgive me if this gets kind of long), we can't always dwell on what happened. I know it's only been five years, but... it happened, and now it's done. We can't do anything to reverse time, and we can't do anything to stop what's happened in the Middle East because of all this. We can remember all of those who lost their lives for no reason, but let us not remember it in sadness.

We must live, and enjoy our lives, so that what has happened was not in vain. We must stay strong, and not be constantly weighed down by this, or those who did the foul deed have already won. We must live doubly well, as if we are living for those who have passed - or else, why live at all? If we waste our lives moping, it's almost as if we spit on their graves and say, "Good riddance!"

Again, sorry for the length - I guess this is just my way to reflect on what happened. Hope it wasn't completely useless for you.
