Oh...I totally can offer you sympathy vibes right now, FFx7. After 4 years of university residence living, I am finally living off campus. And with unfamiliar people too! I so wanna curl up and cry cuz I have to adapt to co-existing with 3 other people who aren't family or close friends. Good things can come of this situation...but I too am all "Let me back to the familiar, the safe, the manageable!"

You will adapt, FFx7...you could always start using the 'Verse as a dowsing rod for fast friends;)

SpaceAnJL is right. I know it's not easy but it does get better.

I grew up moving from place to place because my Dad was in the Army. Finally for my high school years we settled in one place. I made friends even though I thought I wouldn't and I dated even though I was certain I'd never meet anyone and soon it became home.

It became home so much that even though I left and moved around myself, I finally came back here and settled down.

Soon you'll quit mourning "home" and this new "home" will be home.
Be patient and give yourself time.

Oh, hon - *zen hug* Starting over is weird anytime (I've done it a few times, and let's just say I'm a wee bit older than you) It does get better. Sounds like some folk are making an effort to be friendly, and they'll understand you being a bit shy to start with. Don't mean to sound too trite and boring-bloody-adult at you.
