DragonCon Withdrawal Blues
Wednesday, September 6, 2006

Yes, I miss it. I probably will for a while. I am also in a very bad mood, and very irritable. Here goes the expected obligatory stuff:

I did have a very good time. I liked meeting the people I did (ItsaWash, nevis, FireFlyGal, TheRealMe, LightMeDark, CallMeAth, lissa, citizen, XanderLHarris, JadeHand, EngineAngel, ilovefirefly, AINTWEJUST, and I'm sorry if I forgot any others), but I really didn't get to meet a lot of others from this site that I wanted to. There were plenty of BrownCoats there, and lots of other really neat people too. The culture changes quite a bit after sundown, almost as if there are two different Cons going on.

Actully, compared with most of the other people I hung out with, the BrownCoats I was around were the most tame and almost prudish. After arriving, not having slept for 40+ hours (including two shifts at fed job and one closing bartender shift), I showered and got my pass, then met my roommates (ItsaWash, nevis, and FireFlyGal) and passed out for 12 hours. At this point I regret the amount of sleep I got over the weekend. Those 12 hours, plus another 7 hours I spent passed out drunk and another 5 I spent after my last room party, could have been better spent meeting people and seeing things around the Con. Sleepiness is weakness of character anyhow.

I was about to go into a detailed description of my entire weekend when I realized that it just doesn't matter (we can blame it on the aforementioned bad mood). I made it to 2 of the 3 FF panels with Alan and Summer, though I was shit-faced drunk at the first one (apparently I did manage to remain standing, take a swig right before being handed the mic, and stammer out a coherant question). There were lines out the door and around the block for all three panels, and I assume there were equally as many people trying to see Summer alone on the last day. We had 2,000 people in the line for the Shindig, and I waited 1.5 hours just to see Summer and Alan face to face (no one else on the Walk of Fame had even a 10 minute line). None of this is meant as complaining, just showing evidence that the fan support for our wonderful show is still strong and growing stronger. We aren't going anywhere FOX, so bring our BigDamnShow back.

The late night side of the Con definitely held my interest very well. It was mostly spent out on the smoking patio of the Hyatt and wandering around inside the same hotel, where it seemed like everything was happening. I saw several friends I used to party (rave) with while in school, and even saw a girl that my friend dated in high school (who had gotten much much hotter in the six or so year void). Met a neat girl named Psycho too. Both of those girls I would do many things with that even adults on this site wouldn't be willing to read about.

In addition, there were so very many hot bits of tasty there. nevis managed to get loads more pictured than I, and he even managed to spend some time with them on several occasions, both of which make me jealous and in awe of the man.

Bah, really bad mood part taking over again. Time to end this shit.

Least you were able to go, RIMG...some of us Browncoats aren't making with the shiny coin needed to travel there, establish a HQ and make with the fun like other can;)

And you ever thought it's the drinking that's making you all manner of grumpy? Cuz it's an option:D

I totally feel your pain. Although it only took me about 45 mins to go through the autograph line for them, I missed all the panels, and to make things worse my husbands group was having a group dinner late Sat night so I missed the shindig. I did have a shiny time all around though, and can't wait till next year :)
