Firefly/Angel Crossover
Tuesday, May 23, 2006

This is an idea I've been toying with for quite some time now.

What if Firefly is Angel/Buffy five hundred years later?

I thought of this question, and decided that I would go with yes, as I like to think of Angel and Illyria battling evil in the verse. Which further got me thinking that the Pax was not an accident, actually intended by Blue Sun, which is actually the new Wolfram & Hart.

Anybody else think of this? I was going to write a fanfic, but...no ideas yet. Anyone?

Thanks for listening.

I'm writing a Buffy/Firefly crossover called: The Last One. It's lots of fun. I hope you'll check it out

HOROVITS

I had a different idea. Angel s5, when Andrew visits WR&H, he gets a package — a video recording of Firefly, which he hasn’t yet seen in England, sent to him by a friendly Browncoat. Turns out it was a rogue Browncoat, and the tape is ensorcelled, tossing Andrew & Spike on board Serenity just after the credits in the pilot episode. Never thought through how to get them off the show; maybe they just survive through the episode until Wesley sees them on the screen and reverses the spell.

Anybody want to run with this, go ahead.

Wouldn't Spike freak out if he sees Mal, cuz Mal and Caleb share a face....;)

But yeah....a lovely idea! I have seen more than one crossover between Buffy or Angel and Firefly, usually a "River's the slayer" or main character gets flung through time scenario;)

People have tried to reconcile the two universes before, usually via “Fray,” the Buffyverse comic set several hundred years in the future. I recall reading an interview with Joss a while ago where he was asked whether the ‘Verse grew out of “Fray.” Joss insisted that it didn’t and he would never make any suggestions to the contrary . . . except in the sixth season of “Firefly,” “during our decadent phase,” Mal would walk into a bar and seated next to him, in the black trench coat and more than a little drunk, would be a morose Spike, who would say something like “Nothing ever changes, man. Nothing ever changes.” And then Mal would walk on to meet his contact or whatever. At least, that’s what I remember. So sad it’ll never be.

As for fanfic, I like your notion that Blue Sun is the latest incarnation of Wolfram & Hart. Feels very right. What would the end of the world mean when there’s more than one world? Is it time for a magic vs. science rematch? Would Blue Sun--much like the W&H of old--meld both together (might explain how the Blue Hands’ doohickey works)? If you go the “Fray” route, demons and magic would be very rare in the ‘verse, meaning that only a single demon or artifact could be very powerful. Who’s the current Slayer and how does she fit into the ‘verse? How would Angel, Spike, Illyria, and any other immortal characters (is Lorne immortal?) have survived the migration from Earth to the new solar system? Do they work mostly on a single planet (much like they were based in a single city) or do they travel ‘round the ‘verse? Do they know Mr. Universe (could be a good source of info for them, if they want to track down demonic occurrences)? How are they funded? Did they take part in the Unification War and if so, on which side or sides? Have they encountered the Operative before? How about Niska, Badger, or YoSaffBridge? If the Pax’s lethal/reaverization effect was intended by Blue Sun, what will they do now that they know it works (and so does the rest of the ‘verse, if it’s post-BDM)? And finally, is there some sinister, demonic purpose behind the Fruity Oaty Bars? ;)

Hope these musings help spark some ideas, because this feels like fertile ground.
