1858 Remington (Mal's gun source) website for old west / civil war guns - good prices & quality.

Just thought I'd post the link separately for the Cap & Ball (black powder) civl war / old west revolver site I found that has good prices & high-quality gun replica manufacturers like Uberti and Pietta. Here 'tis:

You'll have to scroll down to get to the pistols, but they've got boots & leather goods too. Also carry non-firing replicas, but sadly no 1858 Remingtons. So if you want a gun that you can pull the trigger on without going Boom, these are cheaper but look, feel like real ones. Also, if you buy a working cap & ball (black powder) revolver, you can always just fire the caps in them which makes it basically a very loud toy cap gun. Still gotts clean the gun regular tho. And don't be stupid and fire it close to anyone's head cuz yah never know if there's any particluate stuff coming out from / with the powder.

My mistake in buying my 1851 Navy replica at a local Old West / Indian store was in not doing some prelim research on gun makers & how the cap & ball revolvers work. I was too jazzed up over finding anything even closely resembling Mal's gun that I wasn't thinking clearly -- kinda like falling in love, yah?... Anyway, although the one I did get works as a real gun, I paid twice what I should have considering it's condition -- it's very poor quality (made by Dart) and had lots of nicks on the inside cylinder chamber where the firing cap holders are (called the nipples), plus it has a brass case which is not as strong as the all-steel -- makes 'em get loose after awhile, so serious shooters never fire brass cased black powder revolvers. Oh well, live and learn...
