Bands that Rock And People That Care.
Friday, March 24, 2006

Actually it's country rock, but whatever. What I want to know is have any of y'all ever heard of a band named Kane? The lead singer and co-founder of the band played Lindsey(another guy with a girl's name, but a lot prettier than Jayne) on Angel.

Well, he was telling the story behind this song he wrote and one line just made me want to stand up and clap. He lived next door to this couple who fought a lot and it seemed like the woman was always crying. One day he heard the guy throwing her around, so he, and this parts a quote, "So I went over and politely knocked on the door and then politely beat the shit out of him." It's not a funny subject, but the way he delivered made the audience and me laugh. It also got a lot of cheers. The girl never talked to him again, but apparently she did break up with the guy. I can only hope she got the help she needed.

Anyway I know what he said wasn't very politically correct, and technically it was assualt, and he might have just made things worse for the woman, but I hope it is a true story because it's nice to know there are people who still care about their neighboors. A lot of others might have just turned up their stereo and ignored it.

Also, the bands music is good, a little unpolished, but good and if anybody wants a listen let me know.

I love Kane, and that song's fantastic (it's called Mary Can You Come Outside). I really hope it's on their second album.
It and a few others can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/kanecountry

COWGIRL

Thanks for this post. It's good to hear of people intervening and I hope this post encourages more to get involved. Hopefully knowing someone tried to stick up for her, helped that woman's self confidence enough to make a desperately needed change.
