Jayne Observation
Friday, January 27, 2006

I was re-watching Our Mrs Reynolds yesterday, and I noticed (not for the first time) that in the scene where Jayne is about to use Vera on the Scrapper Station, Mal specifically tells him not to shoot the windows as "that might kill someone".
Jayne proceeds to shoot the breakers AND the window.
A little act of defiance on his part?
I like to think so.

Aye, maybe so.

But thinking of Jayne acting defiant in such as way is, well, I guess I don't know how to say it.

Maybe it's just me, but that act of "defiance" really went through with Jayne's character. I liked it too, now that I think about it. Good observation!

I agree with Rinny & mphillips.

I think Jayne wanted to show off Vera also.

I second mphillips. I think that Mal told him to aim for the breakers because that's what would save them. If he could get the window, so much the better.

But I do like to think that Jayne did it because he COULD and he WANTED to. He just as easily could have left the buggers living.

That's our Jayne.

I watched that one too this week..I got the impression Mal didn't really mind if Jayne killed some folk but they would still be caught..Hence He shot the breaker thingy first then the window anyway ..maybe.? by the way I really enjoy your work keep 'em flying...
