Some more good stuff about my art
Thursday, January 19, 2006

Since you all are asking here goes I do most of my work comic book size or smaller (10x15). For my inkwork I like 3ply strathmore bristol plate finish if I can get it. For the graphite and chalk ones I use a sepia colored paper with a kid finish (rough). I usally start with a screen cap or a publicity photo and layout with a 2h pencil. If I'm going for finished pencils I'll just continue on using anything up to 9b.Then using chalk or conte' white I'll add the highlites. If I'm going to ink the piece, I'll tighten up the 2h drawing with an hb pencil and kneeded eraser till I can tell what goes where.
I prefer using speedball super black ink slightly diluted and various brush sizes from #1 up to about #5. The zip tones are a screen with a sticky back that's appliad with a exacto knife and a burnisher. These look good for about ten years, But eventually they'll turn yellow.
It takes me about three hours start to finish for an inked piece and about two hours for the penciled ones..Thanks to all you guys for the interest in my stuff. It feels shiny to share somthing you enjoy doing with others who enjoy seeing it..
Forgot about the computer part.. I use an hp scanner and usally scan the art in two pieces and stitch together in with a paint program. Adding a border and my name (if I can remember) is all that remains. I've been on the lookout for a scanner big enough to handle 10x15 but them suckers are expensive...
