MALADJUSTED

There was a link up for a few hours. Here's a transcript of what was said for anyone who's interested.

JONATHAN ROSS: Perched on top of that heap we called 2005 at No. 1…..Serenity. It was far from the biggest hit of the year, but the rabid fan base which helped get Joss Whedons' cancelled Sci-fi series on to the big screen has now handed it the biggest accolade in modern cinema. (Tongue firmly in cheek) The title of Film 2005: Film of the year. Rachel Formby calls it, 'A labour of love filled with strong, superbly written characters, humour, emotion and cool effects'. Juliet Richards in Stanstead claims it 'brilliantly blended comedy, action, drama, horror and romance', adding that 'the only negative point I can think of is that it wasn't out for long enough so I only got to see it five times on the big screen'. That's the sort of passion we like to see.

Yes it would appear that the armies of Sci-fi geeks, and I number myself amongst them, have been mobilising and carrying the splendid Serenity to victory. Film 2005 broke the news to the films director and writer Joss Whedon and in return received these words of gracious thanks.

JOSS WHEDON: Hi there. I just want to thank Jonathan Ross and everyone out there in Britainland who voted for my film Serenity as the best film of the year. It was a labour of love, and by that I mean a box office disappointment. But also, with the genuine love not just in making it, but because every time you do make a film you open your heart to the world and in my heart I found a lot of spaceships and weird people and a little girl who beats people up which I think is pretty neat and I’m glad you thought so too. Thank you all so much.

JONATHAN ROSS: So Serenity is our No.1 movie of the year. I don’t think it actually did that well at the cinema, but it was obviously a very popular choice. I loved it when I saw it.
