It's the same amount of work...

I'm getting annoyed, which is never good. Annoyance turns to irritation, and irritation leads to nuclear explosions which we all know are never healthy for anybody - neither one doing the exploding, nor the people the explosion takes place around. (And besides, in the words of the philosopher Jayne Cobb, 'I don't wanna explode!')

The annoyance is coming from those so-called "Browncoats" who, well... pretty much are writing the 'Verse dead. They take statements out of context (much like the press like to do) and just run with them as confirmation. When you correct their appreciation with facts, like I have the horrible tendency to do, then they don't reply, and look for something else that "supports their point of view," when in reality, if you read it, that something is saying exactly what you told them.

Case in point: some fan who "promoted" Serenity (because more than promoting it, he/she was guilt-tripping us when it failed to meet unrealistic expectations at the box office) has now declared the franchise dead, because Joss said in an article in "Entertainment Weekly" that he had "closure with 'Serenity', I can now have it on a shelf at home and stop promoting it." The way I read it, it's "Serenity" that is done. Not the 'verse. Especially not after him telling us it wasn't at the Flanvention last Sunday. He did remark that it all depended on DVD sales. And DVD sales will be good, I'm fairly certain.

Then why, I ask, being so negative about the future? I'm not saying, "Yes! Put on your blinders and desperately believe that the 'verse will continue." That would be, well, not smart. What I am saying, tho, is, "The DVD is coming out. Sales will be good. Have some faith. Don't count us out yet." Then go about your life, you know?

Being positive towards something takes the same energy and the same amount of work as being negative. Only difference is, if you keep a positive attitude, good things happen to you. And wouldn't you agree, more stories in the Firefly 'verse *cough*with Wash*cough* would be a good thing?

I'm just sayin'...

In the words of Sean Pertwee in Dog Soldiers, "Too bloody right, mate".

This ain't over til we say it's over. Well, I suppose if Joss says it's over, then, technically...

Anyway, it's not over yet. We've still got a pulse, and our pupils aren't dilapitated.

I'm with you on this blog. This 'Verse isn't dead to me until Joss says it is. Until then, I am going to buy everything I can to support both it and Joss.

Tracy, I was one of the Browncoats who was initially terrified when I read that article... haven't been here very long and am hard in love with the 'verse. But folks like you have eased my terror a little and I'm with you. DVD sales are gonna be good. Let's hope and work hard and have a positive outlook. We can't go wrong that way. Thank you, for bolstering me up!

ROBINHOOD

Try telling that to XeroGravity, he's on this link again spouting the same old defeatist sh*t.

If that's what he really thinks, why the hell does he even bother visiting this site anymore?

Very well put, Tracy. Pretty much sums up my 'tude. It's great having you aboard this serene ship. I do appreciate the work that you do to keep it afloat.

Yay Tracy!

Right on, Tracy. Let's be positive. I'm not counting out another movie. I feel sure there are going to be more of those stories told!
