Spoilers for Serenity!

Why Wash? Why the Shepherd? Why take perfectly innocent people and kill them off in the space of a second? Okay, true, for all we know, Book might not be "perfectly innocent," considering we don't know his history, but Wash....Who knows.

Why we need a second movie or, preferably, another series/season: to see the effect of these deaths, the effect of Mal leaving the Operative alive, of Mal showing the 'verse Miranda. We need to see how Zoe deals, how the ship is still piloted without Wash's magic skills, if the Operative will come back to "haunt" the crew for Mal's pity--some call it stupidity--and how River fits in with the crew now. How will the Alliance function now that the 'verse knows its deepest, literally darkest secret? All these, and more, were left with us at the end of the BDM. Will our BDH's make it through another day, while love keeps her in the air when she should fall down?

Here's hoping for answers to these questions.

Yeah, sadly, I do. I'm kinda against them, but mostly based on Mal and Zoe being Independents. I agree with the first bit but, and as much as I hated it, there can still be a crew without Wash. Man, that was hard to write. :-)
Thanks for the ideas. I will keep them in mind when writing my next fic and let's hope Joss reads them, too.:-D

GEDEON

I'm gonna take a shot at this and just throw some ideas around...

I've mourned the passing of Book, but there was still a crew without him. When Inara is away, there's still a crew on Serenity.

Wash is the reason I don't see Firefly back on television for more seasons. I think that pattern is broken for good.

Washbourne can not be replaced, but someone will fill his shoes on Serenity.

I think we can trust the operative. He's a monster, yes, but he has a code and we can expect him to follow his code. If he says he won't follow them, I believe him. Plus he warns Mal that others may follow...

Niska, also has a code and we can expect him to be his own bastard self. He can be trusted to do just that.

But as for the alliance, my opinion is that there are much worse sins in it's closet. Miranda was a Good-intension-gone-wrong thing. Other acts made by the alliance, that we may yet discover, were done with malice and pettiness.

If the road to hell is paved with good intensions, well then Miranda is one brick for the alliance's road to hell. No doubt about that. But they didn't put in the effort to do evil. Training and supporting operatives: That's way more "evil", if you will.

There is a tough road ahead, but Joss and the Serenity crew will travel this road. Zoe may have the toughest road of all. I think she'll make it. She will grow from this, eventually...

You know that the alliance will also survive and learn from this, don't you?
