Unexpected story twist.
Wednesday, November 23, 2005

I've been having a little trouble with writer's block, thanks to the music from a recently seen movie flooding my brain. This morning I sat down and was finally able to produce something worth keeping. Then my mom called and, while I was on the phone, my daughter added her own bit to my story. That, of course, degenerated into my typing while both kids zoomed around the room, loudly dictating their own versions of the story at the same time. Here is our combined work. (The alliterations are mine, not the kids.)

“Kaylee!” Inara grabbed the napkin from the food tray and pressed it against Kaylee’s head. “Let’s get you down to the infirmary and have Simon take a look at this.”

“Simon’s with the Cap’n.”

Then comes Super Grace who will help Kaylee! Inara jumped for joy.” You came!” Inara yelled. ”Make her all better,” Inara said.

Then Super Samuel scooped Kaylee up and zoomed to the infirmary. “Surgery, surgery!!!” He yelled.

Super Grace, peeved that her pesky partner plucked the concussed Kaylee from under her very nose, follows after Super Samuel yelling, “Hey, gimme Kaylee! It’s my turn to be the super hero!”

“Surgery! Surgery!” yells Super Samuel. “Off with her head!!”

“Are you crazy?! What kind of super hero are you, anyway!!??”
